Job Summary: As an H-E-B Staff Pharmacist, you'll foster a caring, team environment to ensure we provide responsive healthcare and exceed patient expectations while delivering excellent, accurate, and efficient services. You'll support efforts to retain the integrity of pharmacy practice within our retail environment.
Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
Leadership / Management:

  • Works in a retail pharmacy operation, filling...

  • Greater than 3,500 scripts per week, Staff Pharmacist III
  • Works closely with Pharmacy Manager, other Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, and Pharmacy Care Representatives (PCRs) to ensure the pharmacy provides superior patient care and customer service; role models / provides superior customer service and service standards
  • Performs functions related to managing and operating a pharmacy in a retail environment; assists in managing production efficiency through use of labor schedules; works collaboratively with Top Store Leaders and Regional Director
  • Assists with Partner training and Partner readiness / competency; participates in career planning for direct reports
  • Implements / maintains workflow and quality control methods; applies knowledge of all pharmacy functions; promotes continuous improvement
  • Ensures efficient operation of systems and applications (e.g., RxEVO, RxIMS, PartnerNet, ScriptPro, Kirby Lester, point of sale); maintains automated prescription processing equipment (e.g., Kirby Lester, ScriptPro); responsible for calibration, maintenance, stocking, proper report execution
  • Oversees third-party prescription processing, adjudication review, and resolution of third-party issues
  • Performs drug utilization reviews
  • Ensures accurate inventory management and compliance with proper processes (e.g., maintenance of correct counts in RxIMS, Warehouse, DSD, and Central Fill order / invoice processing, processing of RxIMS reports, review of Warehouse and DSD orders, reverse logistics processes, product quality assurance and assembly accuracy, OTC shelf-stocking, and daily return-to-stock)
  • Assists in conducting / is responsible for bi-annual inventory of controlled substances and physical pharmacy inventory; uses RxIMS to manage inventory according to seasonal / budgetary requirements
  • Performs 7-point check to approve processed prescriptions; verifies all Technician / PCR work; assists with prescription questions
  • Performs other assigned duties

Compliance:

  • Ensures the department complies with all state and federal rules and regulations (TSBP, DPS, FDA, CLIA, DEA, etc.)
  • Provides patient counseling on all new prescription orders as required by Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations
  • Ensures privacy / confidentiality of Personal Health Information (PHI) as required by HIPAA and federal / state privacy rules and regulations; ensures proper procedures are followed related to prescription delivery to a patient
  • Ensures compliant processing of expired and recalled products; ensures compliance with guidelines related to CSOS procedures
  • Ensures pharmacy / staff licenses are current and renewed according to H-E-B guidelines
  • Establishes / adopts best practices to ensure accurate fulfillment, review and verification, patient profile information, and delivery of prescription orders in compliance with H-E-B SOPs
  • Contacts prescribers regarding script questions or problems; verifies / documents prescriber information in compliance with H-E-B Questionable Prescription SOP, and Board of Pharmacy regulations
  • Supports Rx Manager in efforts to ensure staff reads and complies with communications, tasks, and memos from corporate Pharmacy support groups
  • Ensures / supports Rx Manager with compliance of ORT, 5-S, Pharmacy Standards Review, and upkeep of pharmacy presentation, organization, sanitation, and maintenance of all pharmacy-related areas; ensures approved marketing materials are displayed
  • Participates in / supports H-E-B Pharmacy directives and professional services (e.g., MTM and health screenings); serves as certified immunizer; serves as preceptor
