Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer/Senior DevOps Engineer Location – San Antonio, TX / Hybrid Degree - BA/BS Experience - 7 years Clearance - Secret (Required) Summary of Position The Senior Engineer provides advanced engineering, automation, and technical support to the Air Force enterprise identity, security, and infrastructure environment within the Cryptologic and Cyber Systems Division. The engineer supports the design, deployment, sustainment, and modernization of mission systems across Windows, Linux, and virtualized platforms, ensuring compliance with DoD cybersecurity and Zero Trust principles. This position requires a blended skillset including systems engineering, automation, scripting, enterprise monitoring, IT service management, and virtualization. The Senior Engineer works closely with government and contractor teams to integrate identity-dependent capabilities, enhance engineering workflows, and maintain secure, resilient mission services. The engineer will support lifecycle management activities, develop and maintain engineering plans and documentation, and communicate technical requirements to diverse audiences across the program. Essential Job Requirements Systems Engineering & Administration * Provide engineering support for Windows Server and RHEL/Linux environments.
  • Perform system configuration, troubleshooting, patching, and STIG/hardening activities.
Diagnose and resolve complex issues involving enterprise systems, networks, and mission applications. Automation, Scripting & DevOps Develop and maintain automation using Ansible (preferred) or similar tools.
  • Create and maintain scripts using PowerShell and Bash to streamline engineering workflows.
Support automation of deployments, monitoring, configuration, and sustainment tasks. Virtualization & Containerization Engineer and support virtualized environments including VMware, Hyper-V, and Nutanix.
Support or integrate container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. Monitoring & ITSM Tooling Configure and sustain SolarWinds for system and service monitoring.
Use ServiceNow for incident, change, and workflow management. Lifecycle, Planning & Documentation Manage the lifecycle of identity-enabled or PKI-related systems, including logistics, deployment, sustainment, and disposal.
  • Develop, update, and maintain implementation and sustainment plans, including audit processes and forecasted requirements.
Set measurable goals, establish timelines, and monitor progress across engineering activities. Communication & Mission Support Communicate technical requirements effectively to teams with varying technical backgrounds.
  • Present complex information clearly to leadership, engineering teams, and mission stakeholders.
