Job Description:

The Space Operations Engineering Intern will provide technical support to engineering teams engaged in the development, integration, test, and evaluation of complex systems. Under close supervision, the intern will assist with space operations engineering activities across program lifecycle, including requirements analysis, concept development, design support, test planning, execution, and documentation. This role offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in applying engineering principles, technical tools, and problem-solving skills in a collaborative environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Support the development of operational analyses and concept of operations documentation
  • Assist with design and implementation planning for system and subsystem development activities
  • Help develop test plans, procedures, and test cases to support verification and validation efforts
  • Participate in laboratory, system, and/or field testing activities and document test results
  • Use software tools, scripting, and software/hardware troubleshooting techniques to support engineering tasks
  • Assist with the analysis of system requirements derived from end users, stakeholders, and higher-level system needs
  • Support the development and evaluation of system designs, architectures, and technical solutions
  • Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and other technical documentation to communicate plans, status, and results to internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including systems, software, hardware, test, and project engineering personnel
  • Perform assignments designed to develop professional work knowledge and abilities requiring application of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria
  • Assist in the development of checklist, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Participate in Space Operations Command and Control (C2) activities

Qualifications:

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field at an accredited university.

Preferred Skills:

  • Exposure to requirements analysis, system modeling, integration, or test activities
  • Experience with scripting or programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, C++, or similar
  • Experience with Systems Tool Kit (STK), Level 2 and 3
  • Prior internship, academic project, laboratory, or team-based engineering experience
