Description:

Role: This position provides administrative support to the Commercial Lending department, including loan processing and maintenance of the commercial loan portfolio, for commercial loan quality assurance and general loan servicing functions.


Job Type: Full-time, on-site at our Empire administrative office in St Paul, MN


Major Duties and Responsibilities - Servicing

  • Books and funds new MBL and commercial loans utilizing executed loan documents. Modifies and renews existing loans within core system.
  • Reviews all commercial loan documents for accuracy in accordance with approval.
  • Performs commercial loan servicing functions such as payments, advances, adjusting receivables, error corrections, payment recasts, setting up automatic transfers, coding, etc.
  • Processes weekly participation loan remittances and posts participation loan payments received.
  • Process paid loan files following record retention protocol.
  • Maintains tickler system.
  • Reviews daily, weekly, and monthly portfolio management reports.
  • Provides on-going tracking of tax payments and insurance policies for commercial loans.
  • Ensures proper completion of legal documents in post-closing review of commercial loans.
  • Works closely with Commercial Lending Operations Manager regarding core system releases and testing.
  • Keeps abreast of developments in the commercial loan marketplace.

Major Duties and Responsibilities - Processing

  • Coordinate with loan officers to process commercial loan requests by reviewing and evaluating loan applications, corporate documents, purchase agreements, appraisals, title documents, etc. according to policy and guidelines.
  • Assist loan officers with questions regarding commercial loan products and services.
  • Communicate with vendors to order appraisals, appraisal reviews, title work, UCC searches, and environmental reports.
  • Prepare loan documents utilizing loan documentation software.
  • Make follow-up phone calls or emails to request missing required documents needed to complete the loan closing checklist.
  • Collect vendor invoices and correspond with accounting to ensure payment.
  • Provide portfolio management support including, but not limited to, tracking insurance, UCC, HMDA, covenants, delinquency, and matured notes.
  • Perform general loan file maintenance and uploading documents to electronic loan database.

  • Comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control

Requirements:

Experience/Education/Certifications/Licenses

  • Minimum High School degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 to 3 years' experience in banking, preferably supporting lending operations
  • Experience with LaserPro software preferred
  • Experience with Fiserv DNA software preferred

Demonstrated Knowledge

  • Credit Union consumer and commercial products, services, policies and procedures
  • Microsoft Office and other commercial loan software
  • Basic math skills

Ability to:

  • Meet deadlines and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Use clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Problem solve, organize multiple tasks and to maintain a courteous demeanor in a busy, high stress work environment
  • Recognize and troubleshoot system problems and inefficiencies

Communication Skills

Ability to interact/respond to members/staff politely based on a general ‘script’; written communications are templated


Physical Requirements
