Responsibilities

Administrative Assistant of Social Work

Provide administrative support to the Social Work Department to help clients/patients navigate healthcare services, access community resources, and implement individualized care plans.

Job Functions

  • Understands and promotes Elizabeth Seton Children's Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure application with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Promotes teamwork, professionalism, and a culture of respect and service excellence.
  • Under the supervision of Social Work office, respond to ad hoc needs of families in accessing services.
  • Manage any and all duties related to facilitation of transportation of clinic patients with Medicaid, including maintaining annual renewals, standing orders Out of County permissions, and mileage reimbursement. Assist & educate parents/caregivers regarding processes involved in setting up their own trips. Communicate with Medical Answering Services and transportation providers as needed.
  • Investigating and maintaining community resources for families as directed by Social Work staff. Provide said resources to parents and/or staff upon request.
  • Assist Medical staff with letters needed by parents.
  • Sending Early Intervention referrals to appropriate County as directed by medical staff.
  • Managing renewals of supply scripts and medical forms under supervision of Social Worker Manager.
  • The ideal candidate will have an interest in pursuing a career within social work.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA regulations regarding protected health information (PHI).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Bachelor Degree in related field, Human Services, Psychology or Social Work preferred.

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Actively pursuing or interest in a degree or career in social work, human services, psychology, or a related field.
  • Experience in a healthcare, pediatric, or nonprofit setting.
Experience
  • Fluent in both English and Spanish (spoken and written).
  • Strong Customer Service Skills.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Computer proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and working with electronic medical record systems and other databases.
  • Strong Data Entry skills.
  • Experience handling confidential information with professionalism.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience working in a very busy setting.
  • Comfortable working with children and families, particularly those with developmental or complex medical needs.

Employee Requirements:

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently.
  • Must meet or exceed all health standards and requirements for the position as established by NYDOH and all other regulatory agencies.
  • Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this Center which includes a medical and physical examination.
  • Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of thirty-five (35) pounds.
  • Perform tasks that may involve exposure to the resident's blood/body fluids.
  • Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents, if necessary.

Working Conditions:

  • Will work in a well-lighted and ventilated area.
  • Will be subject to frequent interruptions.
  • May be asked to work beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.

Salary Range:

$58,000.00/Yr. To $63,000.00/Yr.
