ABOUT THE ROLE
SC Johnson has an entry level opportunity available with our Global Community Affairs group.
As Communications Associate, you will be part of a program designed to develop strong functional knowledge within the disciplines of community affairs and corporate communications, enabling internal movement based on future business needs. In this role, you will be accountable for supporting and conducting campus tours and providing communications and public affairs functional project support to Community Affairs initiatives.
To be successful in this role, you will need to bring your energy, enthusiasm and smile as you will be engaging extensively with the public and a variety of individuals taking tours of the SC Johnson Global Headquarters campus.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Creating content and interacting with corporate visitors and the public to provide guided tours of SC Johnson's global headquarters
  • Managing the scheduling of staff for community programs and tours
  • Sharing information on company products, activities, and history
  • Supporting Community Affairs activities as assigned, including:
    • Creating unique content and managing the VisitSCJ social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok)
    • Assisting with the creation of marketing and promotional materials
    • Creating new content for tours that drive visitor growth
    • Leading/scheduling/training seasonal contractor tour guide staff
    • Developing and leading Community Interest Programs, Kaleidoscope Educational Series programs (school field trips), and other special events
  • Creating communication messaging and materials to support SC Johnson grant recipients in communicating donations including, but not limited to, drafting announcements, press releases, scripts, newsletters, etc.
  • Planning and coordinating Community Affairs events
  • During peak tour season, will include covering events/tours on weekends

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, mass communication, public relations or related field
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship for full-time employment.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS
  • One year of internship and/or full time experience in communications, public affairs and/or community affairs preferred
  • Experience with digital media - Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.
  • Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Possess time management/project management skills
  • Exceptional written communication skills including formal business writing and copy editing
  • Superior oral presentation and communication skills
  • Critical thinking and quick decision-making skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and interact with people from different backgrounds

JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • This position is located at our Corporate headquarters on Howe Street in Racine
  • Full-time position, Monday through Friday with ability to flex work hours to evenings and weekends during peak times of the year
  • Remote work available one day a week following a 90-day onboarding period
  • This role is not eligible for domestic relocation
