Script Engineer information

What is a Script Engineer?

A Script Engineer is a professional responsible for writing, maintaining, and optimizing scripts that automate tasks, processes, or workflows within software systems. They often work with scripting languages like Python, Bash, PowerShell, or JavaScript to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and support software development or IT operations. Script Engineers may also troubleshoot scripts, integrate them with other tools, and ensure they follow best coding practices.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Script Engineer?

To thrive as a Script Engineer, you need strong programming skills, typically in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell, along with a solid understanding of software development principles. Familiarity with automation tools, version control systems like Git, and continuous integration platforms is commonly required. Problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication help Script Engineers collaborate and deliver reliable automation solutions. These skills are essential for improving efficiency, reducing manual errors, and supporting seamless software development and deployment processes.

How does a Script Engineer typically collaborate with development and operations teams on automation projects?

Script Engineers regularly work alongside software developers and IT operations teams to design, implement, and maintain automation scripts that streamline workflows and system processes. Collaboration often involves gathering requirements, understanding system architectures, and troubleshooting issues together to ensure seamless integration of automation solutions. Effective communication and problem-solving skills are essential, as Script Engineers frequently participate in code reviews, cross-functional meetings, and documentation efforts to keep all stakeholders informed and projects on track.

What is the difference between Script Engineer vs Game Developer?

AspectScript EngineerGame Developer
Required CredentialsBachelor's in Computer Science, Programming SkillsBachelor's in Computer Science, Programming Skills, sometimes specialized in game design
Work EnvironmentGame studios, software companies, often collaborative teamsGame studios, independent developers, software companies
Industry UsageUsed mainly in gaming, interactive media projectsUsed broadly in gaming, including design, programming, and production
Common Search/ComparisonYesYes

While both Script Engineers and Game Developers work within the gaming industry, Script Engineers focus primarily on scripting and implementing game logic, often specializing in scripting languages and tools. Game Developers have a broader role that includes designing, programming, and sometimes managing entire game projects. The roles overlap in skills and work environment, but Script Engineers typically concentrate on scripting tasks within the development process.

Job description

FieldAI is transforming how robots interact with the real world. We are building risk‑aware, reliable, and field‑ready AI systems that address the most complex challenges in robotics, unlocking the full potential of embodied intelligence. We go beyond typical data‑driven approaches or pure transformer‑based architectures, and are charting a new course, with already‑globally‑deployed solutions delivering real‑world results and rapidly improving models through real‑field applications.

We are looking for a BIM/VDC Engineer who can work at the intersection of BIM modeling, point cloud data, construction documentation, and process automation. This role is ideal for someone who has hands‑on experience creating and reviewing BIM models from point clouds, understands construction drawings and site conditions, and is excited about improving workflows through automation.

You will be responsible for checking BIM models created by our teams, ensuring they are accurate against point cloud data, identifying deviations or modeling issues, and helping build scalable processes to make BIM QA/QC faster, more consistent, and more automated.

What You Will Get To Do BIM Model Review & Quality Control
  • Review BIM models created from point clouds and validate them against source data.
  • Check model accuracy, completeness, geometry quality, classification, naming, and level of detail.
  • Identify missing, misaligned, duplicated, or incorrectly modeled elements.
  • Compare BIM models against point clouds, drawings, and site documentation.
  • Prepare QA/QC reports with actionable feedback for modelers.
  • Ensure models follow project‑specific BIM standards, modeling guidelines, and delivery requirements.
Point Cloud to BIM Workflows
  • Work with point cloud data from LiDAR scans, 360 captures, or reality capture systems.
  • Understand scan registration quality, point cloud density, alignment issues, and data gaps.
  • Support workflows for converting existing site conditions into clean BIM models.
Automation & Process Improvement
  • Identify repetitive BIM tasks that can be automated.
  • Support the development of scripts, tools, templates, checklists, and workflows to improve efficiency.Work with product, engineering, and operations teams to translate manual BIM processes into automated or semi‑automated workflows.
  • Help create rule‑based checks for model validation, including naming, categorization, element properties, geometry issues.
What You Have
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or Architecture
  • 3+ years of experience in BIM modeling, BIM coordination, or scan‑to‑BIM workflows.
  • Strong experience with Revit and BIM
  • Experience working with point clouds and validating BIM models against reality capture data.
  • Good understanding of construction drawings, building elements, levels, grids, MEP/structural/architectural coordination, and site documentation.
  • Experience with BIM standards, LOD requirements, naming conventions, parameters, and model organization.
  • Experience with scan‑to‑BIM delivery for commercial, industrial, infrastructure, or large construction projects.
  • Experience with tools such as Navisworks, Recap, CloudCompare, Cyclone, Autodesk Construction Cloud or BIM 360.
What Will Set You Apart
  • Experience creating automation scripts for BIM workflows using Dynamo, Python, Revit API, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with IFC, COBie, BIM data standards, or construction asset classification systems.
  • Experience with tools such as Rhino, Grasshopper, or Blender.
