Description

This is a Summer/Fall (July - December) co-op position on the Filter Design team at Skyworks Irvine site.  You’ll be working as part of an elite team of RF professionals creating the technology for next-generation cellular handsets and other wireless communication devices and applications. Your job function will focus primarily on improving the design efficiency of acoustic filters, including SAW and BAW technology, for RF front-end modules.   

Responsibilities
  • Implement and recommend data-driven solutions to analyze our BAW resonators/filters with guidance and mentorship from senior engineers
  • Design automation and implement to improve filter design efficiency regarding data plots and so on
  • Work closely with the filter design team and internal IT/modeling team to bridge the requests from the filter design team and implement them in the design tool/utility/methodology.
Required Experience and Skills
  • Currently pursuing a PhD or Master's in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
  • Ability to work on-site in Irvine for 6 month period
  • Experience with the design, development, and software implementation of complex mathematical algorithms.
  • Knowledge of statistics and machine learning methods.
  • Coursework in the theory and applications of circuit design/acoustic filters.
  • Great communication skills and the ability to understand the requests from the filter design team.

Desired Experience and Skills
  • Ability to develop stand-alone engineering tools/scripts via Python and/or MATLAB.

The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $26.00 - $47.50 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $22.50 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
