Job Description Summary & Additional Information
Organization's Summary Statement:
The Intern for the OCS Technology Team position supports the Technology Manager in Career Services with reporting and data processing. The position is an hourly role; details below. Specific Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain system interface scripts using Python and REST API. Systems include 12Twenty and Salesforce.
  • Maintain, design and develop a Business Intelligence (BI) system using Excel, Power Query, Power BI, and Google Sheets / Google Apps script.
  • Manage data integrity, regularly conducting de-duplication and quality control reviews.
  • Design, implement, and maintain tables, views and queries in a SQL database.
  • Provide standard reports by exporting data from HireSmith; reporting on real-time recruiting volume, student activities, coaching volume, recruiting trends, employer profiles and history, etc.
  • Fulfill reporting and data requests from HireSmith, including student engagement and recruiting patterns.
  • May assist in managing the work of multiple undergraduate students on projects for OCS.
  • Create reports and analysis on historical recruiting patterns and volume.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Professionalism & Customer Service - The Office of Career Services serves multiple customer groups, to include graduate students, undergraduate students, alumni, employers, faculty and staff. Must be comfortable in a fast-paced professional environment interacting with multiple constituencies in a positive, proactive, responsive and cheerful manner.
  • Experience with Python required; experience with Salesforce a plus.
  • Must have very strong Excel, ETL, and BI skills, including Tables, array functions, VLOOKUP, Power Query, Power BI and similar skills applicable to ETL and reporting.
  • Must have database management skills (especially SQL), specifically to export and manipulate data.
  • Conscientiousness and Dependability - The GA is a full member of the OCS Technology Team and plays a large role in the team's success. Reliability, timeliness, and ability to consistently deliver high quality work within quick turnaround times is necessary.
  • Attention to Detail & Critical Thinking - Attention to detail is important in our service culture. Creative and critical thinking skills support project development and implementation needs.
  • Discretion and Sound Judgment - Ability to maintain confidentiality of student data; ability to anticipate the consequences of his/her actions as they relate to the creation and dissemination of information and the ability to make sound decisions with limited supervision.
  • Initiative - Ability to be proactive and offer suggestions for resolving issues and/or improving current processes that support the Technology Team.
  • Teamwork & Collaboration - Ability to work with others from different backgrounds and levels within the organization to elevate results.

Additional Information:
This is a 15 month, 20 hours per week (40 hours per week in the summer), internship on the College Park campus in Van Munching Hall. Candidates must be enrolled in a University of Maryland graduate program throughout the Fall 2026, Spring 2027, and Fall 2027 semesters. Pay is $15/hour. This position would begin Monday August 31, 2026, and run through Wednesday, December 22, 2027.
