Job description

We are seeking an experienced journalist to serve as Executive Producer for our Sacramento newsroom. This position is responsible for driving the station's editorial vision, leading daily news coverage, mentoring newsroom staff, and ensuring the highest standards of journalism across all platforms. The Executive Producer serves as a key newsroom leader, working closely with producers, reporters, assignment editors, and management to elevate storytelling, coordinate breaking news coverage, and execute the station's editorial strategy. This position will also serve as an emergency or relief anchor as operational needs require, providing on-air coverage during breaking news, staff absences, vacations, or special events. the brand.

YOUR DAY-DAY:
  • Lead the daily editorial direction and content strategy for the Sacramento newsroom.
  • Facilitate editorial meetings and help establish daily news priorities.
  • Coach producers, reporters, MMJs, and newsroom staff to strengthen storytelling and journalistic quality.
  • Review scripts and provide editorial guidance to ensure accuracy, balance, and clarity.
  • Oversee breaking news coverage and coordinate newsroom resources during major events.
  • Develop enterprise reporting, investigations, explainers, and special projects.
  • Ensure consistent editorial standards across broadcast, streaming, digital, and social platforms.
  • Collaborate with station leadership on newsroom strategy, audience growth, and content innovation.
  • Mentor newsroom staff and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Write and edit scripts and special coverage.

  • Serve as a versatile on-air anchor by leading breaking news, special reports, election coverage, and emergency or relief broadcasts, while representing the station at community events and public appearances as assigned, delivering accurate, engaging, and professional coverage under dynamic news conditions.
YOU HAVE:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of newsroom leadership experience in a small - medium market, Proven success producing high-impact, ratings-driven newscasts in competitive television markets.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead newsroom operations in fast-paced, high-pressure environments, including overnight shifts and extended coverage during breaking news and major events.
  • Strong expertise in developing multi-platform news strategies, seamlessly integrating broadcast, digital, streaming, and social media to maximize audience engagement.
  • Exceptional editorial judgment, decisive leadership, and the ability to make sound decisions under tight deadlines.
  • Strategic thinker with a creative approach to storytelling, newsroom innovation, and audience growth.
  • Proven ability to recruit, coach, mentor, and develop diverse teams while fostering a collaborative, high-performance newsroom culture.
  • Strong people-management skills with experience leading, motivating, and evaluating teams across multiple levels of responsibility.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and initiative in leading special projects and strategic newsroom initiatives as assigned by News Leadership.
  • Fully bilingual in English and Spanish, with excellent written and verbal communication skills in both languages.

Salary Range $75,000 - $85,000 Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
