What is a script coverage?

A Script Coverage job involves reading and analyzing screenplays, then providing a structured report that includes a summary, comments, and a recommendation for producers, agents, or executives. Coverage helps decision-makers quickly assess whether a script is worth pursuing. Readers evaluate elements like plot, structure, character development, and dialogue. These roles are common in production companies, literary agencies, and studios, often serving as entry-level positions in the film industry. Strong analytical skills and knowledge of storytelling are essential for success in this role.

What does a typical day look like for someone in a script coverage role?

A typical day for someone providing Script Coverage involves reading and analyzing one or more scripts or screenplays, then writing detailed reports that include a summary, analysis of strengths and weaknesses, and a recommendation for development executives. You may work independently, but frequent communication with story editors, producers, and other analysts is common to ensure your coverage aligns with project goals. Deadlines can be tight, especially during pilot or development seasons, so time management and efficiency are essential. This role offers valuable exposure to the decision-making process within film and TV production, and opportunities for advancement into story editing, creative executive positions, or development roles.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the script coverage position, and why are they important?

To thrive in Script Coverage, you need strong analytical reading skills, a deep understanding of screenwriting principles, and an ability to succinctly evaluate scripts, typically supported by a degree in film studies, English, or related fields. Familiarity with script management software like Final Draft, tracking boards, and coverage templates is highly valued. Excellent written communication, attention to detail, and time management are key soft skills for delivering high-quality, insightful coverage on tight deadlines. These abilities are crucial for helping studios and production companies efficiently identify promising material and guide development decisions.

Job description

Description

Legacy Capital Services is proud to provide essential administrative support to a rapidly expanding national consumer rights law firm dedicated to helping Americans achieve financial freedom from burdensome credit card debt, medical bills, auto loans, timeshares, and more. Consumer demand is at an all-time high. Unlike traditional debt relief options like settlement, collections, or bankruptcy, the consumer rights attorneys offer a unique and specialized service, disputing clients' debts and helping them take control of their financial futures.

The Business Development Representative is responsible for expanding Legacy Capital Services' national affiliate network by identifying, developing, and recruiting strategic referral partners who can offer credit card debt relief and tax settlement services to consumers. In this role, you'll identify and recruit businesses to offer our credit card debt relief and tax settlement services to consumers, building relationships across the financial services, marketing, and lead generation industries. You'll make high-volume outbound calls, send follow-up presentations, and set qualified appointments for our Account Managers, who close and onboard new affiliate partners.

This role is responsible for developing strategic partnership opportunities through two primary channels: building a strong referral vertical of individual business partners, and recruiting full sales floors ready to operate as Legacy affiliates - directly scaling our outreach and client acquisition channels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Make 100+ outbound calls per day to prospective affiliate partners across financial services, marketing, and lead generation industries.
  • Identify and prospect businesses and sales floors positioned to refer or sell debt relief and tax settlement services.
  • Research and identify qualified decision-makers including owners, founders, executives, and sales leaders.
  • Pitch the Legacy affiliate opportunity, qualify partnership fit (volume potential, industry experience, decision-making authority), and generate interest
  • Send follow-up emails with company/affiliate presentation decks to qualified prospects
  • Schedule qualified appointments directly onto Account Managers' calendars, confirming attendees, date, and time
  • Send calendar invites and confirmation emails to prospects and the assigned Account Manager
  • Log all call outcomes, email activity, and lead/partner details accurately in the CRM
  • Follow up on sent presentations and warm leads; reschedule missed or postponed appointments
  • Manage a multi-touch outbound cadence while meeting activity and appointment-generation targets.
  • Handle objections professionally; escalate high-value prospects (e.g., full sales floors) as needed
  • Represent Legacy's brand professionally on every call and email
  • Collaborate with Account Managers to refine scripts, presentation materials, and targeting strategy
  • Maintain a healthy partnership pipeline and consistently advance opportunities through the sales process.
  • Provide market feedback regarding affiliate trends, competitor offerings, and prospect needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma required, college degree preferred.
  • At least two (2) years of Experience in outbound sales, telemarketing, appointment setting, or B2B business development required; financial services, debt relief, or lead-gen industry experience a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable with high call volume and handling rejection professionally
  • Strong organizational skills for CRM logging and calendar coordination
  • Proficiency with CRM, email, and scheduling tools
  • Self-motivated, competitive, and goal-oriented
  • Ability to identify and speak to decision-makers at both individual businesses and larger sales organizations
  • Experience meeting or exceeding outbound sales KPIs and performance metrics.
  • Ability to communicate value propositions, overcome objections, and build rapport quickly.
  • Existing network or experience within financial services, marketing, or lead generation industries, preferred
  • Experience recruiting affiliates, referral partners, or sales agencies, preferred
  • Familiarity with CRM Salesforce and scheduling tools (Outlook), preferred

Core Competencies

  • Business Development & Prospecting
  • Consultative Communication
  • Relationship Management
  • Sales Execution & Results Orientation
  • Organization & CRM Management

Perks of Joining our Team

  • Pay: $20/hr + commission ($53,000 - 66,000/yr)
  • Comprehensive health coverage - medical, dental, and vision plans
  • Health Savings Account
  • Paid Time Off
  • Life insurance
  • Retirement savings program
  • Opportunities for growth and advancement through internal promotion potential

Typical Work Environment/Conditions: Cubicle, air conditioned, moderate noise, extended phone (headset) and computer usage.

Essential Functions/Physical Requirements: Ability to sit for long periods of time, speak on the phone (headset), extended computer and keyboard use.
