What is screen repair?

Screen repair refers to the process of fixing or replacing the display screen of electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, or TVs when it becomes cracked, broken, or unresponsive. Technicians assess the extent of the damage and may replace the entire screen assembly or repair minor issues like dead pixels or touch sensitivity problems. Professional screen repair ensures that your device functions properly and often helps maintain its resale value. It's important to use reputable repair services to avoid further damage or voiding warranties.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a screen repair technician?

To thrive as a Screen Repair Technician, you need a solid understanding of electronics, fine motor skills, and experience with device disassembly and reassembly, often supported by a high school diploma or technical training. Familiarity with tools such as heat guns, suction cups, precision screwdrivers, and diagnostic software is typically required. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and strong customer service skills help technicians excel in this role. These skills ensure accurate repairs, minimize device damage, and provide a positive customer experience, which are crucial for business success.

What are some common challenges faced by screen repair technicians, and how can they overcome them?

Screen repair technicians often encounter challenges such as dealing with delicate electronic components, sourcing compatible replacement parts, and managing time efficiently during repairs. To overcome these, it's important to stay up-to-date with the latest device models and repair techniques, use specialized tools to minimize damage, and maintain a network of reliable suppliers for quality parts. Additionally, clear communication with customers regarding repair timelines and possible outcomes can help set realistic expectations and build trust.

If you thrive in an ISO-certified environment and enjoy coaching teams while driving quality and throughput, we’d like to meet you.
Location: Minnetonka, MN  |  Shift: 1st shift  |  Pay: $50,000–$70,000/year  |  Status: Full-time
POSITION SUMMARY

Technomark has an opportunity for a Screen Printing Manager with hands-on experience printing membrane switches, graphic overlays, and electroluminescent (EL) lamps. This role leads the day-to-day operation of the Screen Printing Department in an ISO-certified manufacturing environment, ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives are met. The Screen Printing Manager is responsible for department productivity, staffing, training, and compliance (including OSHA and ISO requirements), and brings strong technical expertise in setting up and operating automatic screen printing presses to achieve required registration, color, print quality, and production speed.
WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Lead all screen printing production activities for membrane switches, graphic overlays, and electroluminescent (EL) lamp components; including staff assignments, quality, throughput, and adherence to documented processes.
  • Review production schedules and assign work as appropriate to meet delivery deadlines.
  • Drive continuous improvement (scrap reduction, yield improvement, changeover reduction, and cycle-time optimization) using root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Monitor and control department’s expenses in the purchasing of supplies.
  • Establish and maintain process controls (registration, color standards, cure parameters, inspection criteria) to meet customer and internal specifications.
  • Partner with Maintenance to ensure press readiness, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and timely repair of screen printing equipment, dryers/curing systems, and related fixtures.
  • Enforce safety policies and quality standards; ensure proper handling, storage, and use of inks/solvents and compliance with OSHA/EHS requirements.

  • Develop and implement training, qualification, and cross-training plans; ensure work instructions, travelers, and records are maintained in accordance with ISO requirements and support internal/external audits as needed.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Materials, and Production Control to support new product introductions, first-article builds, and ongoing production performance.
  • Promote inter-departmental teamwork by communicating priorities, escalating constraints, and aligning on customer requirements and delivery commitments.
  • Remain hands-on as needed—set up, troubleshoot, and run jobs to support schedule attainment while maintaining safety and quality standards.
  • Using JobBOSS and travelers, accurately record operation activity (labor, good quantity, scrap quantity, and scrap reason codes) and use data to drive performance and quality improvements.

  • Working knowledge of ISO quality systems (document control, training records, nonconformance, corrective action) and the ability to support audit readiness and compliance.
  • Knowledge of presses, dryers/curing systems, inspection tools, and related fixtures; able to troubleshoot, coordinate repairs, and ensure equipment is maintained to support consistent output.
