Job description

Job Responsibilities The Agency's mission is to be boldly innovative in improving the health and quality of life for South Carolinians. This position is located in Localized Eligibility Processing (LEP), Lexington County. This is an in-office role and not a telecommute or remote position.

Are you the One. We are looking for an Administrative Specialist II, who will provide administrative assistance to eligibility staff to improve efficiency in case processing. Performs administrative duties such as assisting clients, screening applications and resolving problems.

Provides internal customer services by working in harmonious relationships and developing sound solutions to accomplish the S.C Department of Health and Human Services mission (The Department). Demonstrates positive, cooperative and professional relationships and customer service with staff, co-workers, customers, providers, administrators, the general public, and all stakeholders. Must exhibit dependability/reliability/time management by reporting to work on time, by meeting work schedules & deadlines and completing job tasks effectively and efficiently.

Assists clients in person or via telephone. Screens applicants, make appropriate referrals, answers questions & resolves problems. Adheres to all agency policies, HIPPA Medicaid Confidentiality rules.

Must maintain punctuality with established schedules & exhibits exemplary customer service skills (friendly, helpful, courteous, and harmonious). Provides administrative assistance to eligibility staff to improve efficiency in case processing. Reviews incoming applications/reviews for completeness.

Scans files accurately into OnBase using correct indexing and county information. Receives faxes and directs faxes to appropriate worker or virtually prints faxes into OnBase. Maintains inventory of supplies/forms.

Prepares supply order. Prepares reports as requested. Maintains filing system.

Opens/date stamps/reads/researches incoming mail and distributes to appropriate staff daily and prepares outgoing mail. Delivers mail between offices as directed. Preforms emergency preparedness duties or activities as required.

Attends meetings and training sessions as required. Makes and keeps schedules, completes tasks timely and reports to work timely. Performs other duties as assigned.

The South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services offers an exceptional benefits package for FTE and TGE positions that includes: Health, Dental, Vision, Long Term Disability, and Life Insurance for Employee, Spouse, and Children. 15 days annual (vacation) leave per year. 15 days sick leave per year.

13 paid holidays. State Retirement Plan and Deferred Compensation Programs. Minimum and Additional Requirements A high school diploma.

Related clerical experience may be substituted for a high school diploma. Additional Requirements: Occasional overnight travel. Sitting or standing for long periods of time.

Lifting requirements: 20 lbs. In-office Role Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of laws, regulations and policies relevant to the agency of employment. Must be able to perform routine administrative duties.
