Job description

Scout Clean Energy is a leading renewable energy developer and operator with a portfolio of solar, wind, and battery storage projects across the U.S. We are growing rapidly and seeking a skilled Tax Compliance Senior Associate to support our tax function during a period of expansion. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex partnership tax compliance in the renewable energy sector and contribute to the development of sustainable energy solutions.
Role Overview
The Income Tax Senior Associate will assist the Senior Tax Manager with federal, state, and local compliance, focusing primarily on partnership tax reporting within renewable energy project structures. This role requires strong technical skills in partnership tax, experience with multi-tiered partnership structures, and the ability to navigate the unique aspects of renewable energy project finance, tax equity, and credit incentives.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review U.S. federal and state partnership tax returns, including K-1s, for renewable energy project entities and corporate-level entities.
  • Assist with quarterly and annual tax provision and estimates, including reporting to investors and stakeholders.
  • Support tax equity partnership compliance, including allocations, Section 704(b)/752 liability tracking, and Section 754 elections.
  • Coordinate with external advisors and auditors to ensure accurate and timely filings.
  • Research and advise on Subchapter K and renewable energy tax matters
  • Analyze tax aspects of project development and financing, including ITC, PTC, and related credit transfer rules.
  • Research and advise on partnership tax matters, including basis adjustments, debt allocations, and other partner capital account matters.
  • Contribute to process improvements and documentation of tax compliance workflows.

Requirements
  • CPA or advanced degree in Tax/Accounting preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience in partnership tax compliance (Big 4 or large firm experience a plus).
  • Strong knowledge of Subchapter K, including partnership allocations, liabilities, and capital accounts.
  • Hands-on experience with income tax modeling
  • Experience with renewable energy, project finance, or tax equity structures strongly preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, growing company.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with finance, legal, and project teams.
  • Advanced excel skills required (comfortable with complex formulas and modeling).
  • Experience in Renewable Energy is a plus.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • This position is not eligible for sponsorship.

Timeline and Location
The target start date is July 2026. This position will be located in our Boulder, CO office. Candidates who are not local but open to relocating are encouraged to apply.

Target base salary: $80,000 - $95,000. Attractive bonus potential.
