Position Summary
As an Engineer with our Transmission Scoping team at Oncor, you'll plan, lead, and oversee engineering and project management responsibilities for the screening, preliminary analysis, and development of future projects and plans. Includes high level feasibility scoping, estimating, and conceptual planning.

This position will be hybrid (3 days in-office) and based at the location listed.
Key Responsibilities
  • Reviews, analyzes, and develops transmission line and station projects ensuring they meet reliability and efficiency standards.
  • Evaluates and supports strategies for customer interconnection requests including initial screening as well as proactive area concepts and planning.
  • Interface closely with cross-functional teams, internally & externally to achieve common goals.
  • Lead or support projects related to developing Transmission plans ensuring they can be completed on time and within budget.
  • Maintain current knowledge and monitor all electric utility rules, standards and regulatory requirements for reliable, safe operation of the Oncor transmission system.
  • Utilizes computer-based project management or company systems.
  • Performs other system studies and analyses as requested.
  • Performs all essential aspects and functions of the job as well as any other specific job requirements.

Skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple resources.
  • Excellent communication and team-building skills for effective relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Leadership, subject knowledge, and design/planning experience to provide direction for system wide transmission line and station projects.
  • Knowledge of electrical power transmission systems, grid operations, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in engineering software and tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook).

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering required.

For Engineer:
  • 2+ years of design, planning or other relevant engineering experience required.

For Staff Engineer:
  • 4+ years of design, planning or other relevant engineering experience required.

For Senior Engineer:
  • 6+ years of design, planning or other relevant engineering experience required.

Applicants with experience working in or for an electric utility are encouraged to apply.
Applicants capable of obtaining or already have their Professional Engineer (PE) license are encouraged to apply.
Measure of Success
  • Willing and able to participate in training of other engineers.
  • Compliance with applicable standards, protocols and Oncor Safety guides.
