A Greer's Cashier is committed to delivering more than is expected to customers by providing a positive first impression and by living the Greer's Team Vision "To bring added joy, well-being and value to people's lives!" every day.
As a Greer's cashier I am responsible for providing fast, friendly and accurate "check out" to our customers whether I am assisting in a traditional checkout lane or with Self Check Outs (SCO). I am to quickly and efficiently process transactions by giving my customer my undivided attention, processing purchases through the register system following company guidelines, properly completing all transactions, adhering to all laws and regulations restricting certain transactions.
As a cashier/attendant in the SCO area, I am to follow the SCO Attendant Guidelines for assisting customers, paying special attention to their needs during the checkout process.
I am expected to greet and assist customers in locating products in the store and by bagging their purchases when checking out through a traditional checkout lane. I am to operate a computerized cash register system to weigh, scan and process transactions and to assist in the cleaning of the check stands and surrounding areas as well as any other tasks assigned by management. As a Greer's Cashier, I will also take "return" products back to the proper shelf locations as directed by my supervisor.
I will demonstrate responsible behavior, thoroughness of work and dependability.
I will consistently demonstrate compliance with Greer's policies and procedures, including regular and timely attendance, adherence to dress code and ensuring a safe work environment, and a willingness to complete other duties as assigned.
I will encourage an atmosphere of teamwork by my own actions. I will also encourage cooperation and trust within the store team. I will show a high concern for the rights, values and worth of others.
With respect and support from my peers and supervisors, I will strive daily to exceed my customers' expectations in an effort to support Greer's Gold Star Customer Service Program and its Mission Statement - "Enthusiastically continue to improve our team, customer service, values, community involvement and performance."
Position Requirements: Must be at least a rising junior in high, age 17 or, if not in high school, must have a High School Diploma or completed GED Certification.
Prefer previous experience operating a cash register, handling cash or other forms of tender, preferable in a grocery store or retail establishment but not required.
Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
Ability to interpret, understand and follow instructions.
Ability to move, lift, carry and place merchandise and supplies weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance.
Frequently reaches overhead and below the knees, including pushing, pulling, squatting, kneeling, bending, stooping, crouching, and twisting with or without bearing weight.
Continuous repetitive motion with hand(s) and arm(s), such as grasping, gripping and turning.
Stands and/or walks continuously throughout shift without a break for up to 4 hours.
Ability to visually locate merchandise and other objects, as well as verify information, often in small print.
May be exposed to all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, wind, ice or snow, as well as inside work with variations of heat, cold, dust and humidity.
May be exposed to chemicals or allergens (such as latex, eggs, nuts, soy, wheat, etc).
