School Kitchen Aide

Buffalo Science Charter School

Position Summary

The School Kitchen Aide supports the daily operations of the school cafeteria by assisting with food preparation, meal service, cleaning, and kitchen organization. This position plays an important role in ensuring students receive safe, nutritious meals in a clean and efficient food service environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist with preparation and serving of breakfast and lunch meals for students and staff
  • Set up, stock, and break down serving lines and food service areas
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, cafeteria, equipment, and food storage areas
  • Wash dishes, utensils, trays, and kitchen equipment
  • Assist with receiving, unpacking, and storing food deliveries
  • Support proper food handling, portioning, and meal service procedures
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
  • Assist with inventory organization and kitchen supply restocking
  • Support Food Service staff with daily operational tasks as needed
  • Dispose of waste properly and maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Prior experience in food service, cafeteria, or kitchen environments preferred but not required
  • Ability to follow instructions and food safety procedures
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

Work Schedule

Compensation & Benefits
  • Annual salary: $23,000-27600
  • 10-month position aligned with the school calendar
  • Eligibility for medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • PTO accrual in accordance with Buffalo Science Charter School policy (up to 80 hours annually for full-time employees)

This position works in a school kitchen and cafeteria setting with exposure to heat, kitchen equipment, and food service operations. The role requires adherence to strict food safety, sanitation, and operational standards.
