Job description

Food Scientist Intern

We are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking food scientist intern who can assist our team of food scientist department in developing and refining formulations for our current and future products. You will have the opportunity to explore many creative avenues within the world of food science.  You will assist in scaling up recipes, calculating percentages/ratios with ingredients, as well as communicating with our customers regarding the initial recipe, pricing information and sampling.  

For you to succeed in this role, you must be able to interpret and apply findings as needed and take direction from our management in the Food Science team and work closely with other departments, and customers. We are looking for individuals who are team players and share our unwavering passion for product development and enabling you to discover and explore your own skills for your journey in the Food Science industry. 

Food Scientist Intern Responsibilities:

  • Exploring innovative manufacturing methods to reduce costs while meeting customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Liaising with relevant stakeholders to address concerns about food quality and safety.
  • Able to learn advanced formulation software to create and maintain formulations.
  • Exploring pivotal functions in bringing new products to life, from conceptualization to successful launch.
  • Coordinating the arrangement and shipment of sales samples.
  • Updating product information sheets and labels for effective sales presentation.
  • Accurately recording, analyzing, and summarizing research data for informed decision-making.
  • Collaborating with independent laboratories for comprehensive testing.
  • Maintaining and organizing data collection within our file management systems.
  • Ensuring strict compliance with GMP and other safety regulations.
  • Performing any additional duties assigned by the supervisor.

Food Scientist Intern Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in an academic program for Food Science and or Food Engineering.
  • Ability to utilize both internal and external sources to drive technical scientific advancements.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in laboratory work.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of food data science.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Flexibility to travel overnight and work night and weekend shifts for special projects.
