Job description

We are seeking a Metallurgist / Materials Science Process Engineer to join our Hot Annealing and Pickling Line team at our mill in Calvert, North Mobile County, AL.

Objective: Engineer to build and oversee the design and production of a facility's processes. The Process Engineer regularly meet with production managers or production coordinators to determine what their current processes consist of and will collaborate with them to adjust accordingly. They will also perform risk assessments to determine what kind of improvements could be made to keep the facility running smoothly and efficiently. Process Engineers are also responsible for reviewing safety and quality standards to ensure the facility is properly meeting these guidelines.

Requirements: 

   Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field preferred.
   Proven experience, with at least 2 years in a Process Engineer role.

   Proficiency in Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
   Experience with quality management systems (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001) preferred.
   Familiarity with ERP systems software applications. SAP, preferred.
   Familiarity with software package applications. Minitab, CAD preferred.

Competencies and skills:

   Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
   Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail 

                
Job Responsibilities:
1. Safety and compliance:
   Promote a safe working environment by enforcing safety protocols and procedures.
   Investigate accidents or incidents, conduct RRE (Risk Reduction Events) and implement preventive measures to minimize risks.
2. Quality Assurance:
   Develop and implement quality control procedures to maintain product quality and consistency.
   Conduct audits to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with quality standards.
   Investigate and resolve quality issues promptly, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
3. Production Management:
   Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to quality standards and compliance with regulations.
   Optimize production efficiency and minimize downtime by implementing effective production techniques and process improvements.
   New product development.
   Consumable inventory and orders.
4. Continuous Improvement:
   Analyze production data and performance metrics to drive decision-making and achieve operational excellence.
   Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and efficiency improvements.
   Lead or participate in cross-functional teams to implement Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
5. Communication and Reporting:
   Communicate regularly with management and support areas to provide updates on production performance, issues, and opportunities.
   Prepare and present reports, dashboards, and KPIs to track key metrics and performance indicators.
   Collaborate with other departments such as engineering, quality assurance, and sales to ensure alignment of goals and objectives.

Salary range: USD. 92,400-127,100
