TheMSLserves asthe local medical voice of AstraZenecain the disease area ofinterest, andbuildsa local medical strategy to improve patient care and outcomes in their territory.TheMSL is an establishedfield-based professional withstrongscientific,clinicaland therapeutic areaexpertiseresponsible for providing medical and scientific support for AstraZeneca's oncology marketed products, new indications for current products, and compounds in development.

  • Act as the local medical leader responsible for developing a tailored strategy to meet the AZ USMA priorities in the disease area, as well as the local specificities and patient needs.

  • Develop strong working relationships in different external business settings(e.g.academia, hospitals, managed markets, private practices)

  • Leadscientificexchanges withoncologists,urologistsand key members of the MDT

  • Leadpeer topeer scientific/medical interactions

  • Gather insights on the treatment landscape, evolving healthcare environment and practice, barrier tooptimaltreatment and patient care or opportunities to improve outcomes of patients with cancer

  • Communicate internally insights, findings, and propose actions to improve patient care and outcomes

  • Discuss with KOLs data and educational gaps to ensure adequate use of our medicines and to inform our R&D strategytoaddress patient needs

  • Summarizeappropriate clinicaldata intoaccurateand balancedinformation and clearly and concisely convey the most relevant information

  • Staycurrent with scientific knowledge(e.g.marketed and emerging products, competitors' activities, key healthcare trends, anatomy & physiology; pathophysiology in relevant disease states, and current therapeutic interventions related to disease states

  • Attend relevant scientific meetings and conferences

  • Collaborate withClinops on Ph3 trials from feasibility to execution of trials

  • Discuss and follow-up on ESRs

Essential Requirements:

  • Advanced scientific degreerequired(i.e. Pharm D, MD/DO, PhD,PAor NP) in a relevant health science or clinical discipline

  • 2+yearsofMSLexperienceor relevant therapeutic area experience

  • Demonstratedexpertisein discussing scientific content and context to multiple audiences

  • Ability to express ideas clearly in written documentation, one-on-one conversations andinsmall group dialogues

  • Ability towork independentlyand in groups

  • Ability to navigatewithin a matrixial environment

  • Strong understandingof clinical study design and protocols

  • Basic understanding of the Healthcare system, clinical trialmethodology,statisticsand regulatory environment

  • Excellent project management ability

  • Ability to travel (40-60% by car and plane domestic)

Desireable:

  • Doctorate strongly preferred in a health science or clinical discipline

Territory includes: New York state(not NYC of LI), Connecticut and Northern New Jersey

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $174,455-$261,682. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles) or to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
