IMEG is hiring an Electrical Engineering Co-op in Atlanta, GA. As a co-op intern, you'll gain hands-on experience over 3-12 months, depending on the length of the program, assisting in the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems in buildings.

In this role, you'll support project design within project budgets, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and help meet project goals and client expectations. You'll contribute to housing, multifamily, commercial, and retail work while advancing high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030.

What You'll Do

  • Assist with design portions of projects related to discipline systems according to code and IMEG standards.
  • Assist with researching resources for commercially available equipment.
  • Assist with client relations and maintaining the project design notebook.
  • Assist with providing documentation for permanent record files.
  • Assist with coordinating design and schedule with other disciplines such as architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment suppliers.
  • Assist with documenting design decisions, meetings, and instructions from the client while monitoring project design progress.
  • Assist with reviewing project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to requesting a final check.
  • Assist with preparation and issuance of addendum information.
  • Conduct periodic job site observations and all other services as required by the contract services agreement.

  • Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required

    Required Skills/Abilities

    • Strong interest in design consulting
    • Previous exposure to CAD and/or BIM software
    • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
    • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

    Preferred

    • Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

    • Design MEP systems for high-profile commercial, mixed-use, multifamily, retail, hospitality, and restaurant projects throughout the Southeast.
    • Work on complex developments involving residential and office space above retail, structured parking, specialty lighting, restaurant exhaust, and flexible tenant systems.
