Overview

Hexagon's Autonomous Solutions, is looking for an Agriculture Engineering Intern to join our high-tech engineering and manufacturing company for the period of May 03, 2027 to May 2, 2028.ย  To support our focus on delivering high quality products, we are looking for an enthusiastic internship student to add to ourย Agriculture Engineering team. This role will focus on Software Development and Software/System Verification and Validation for features and products either in the field or in development. By working with world-leading experts you will gain valuable experience in Programming Code, Software Quality, Verification, Validation, as well as how product and software feature development that is targeted to a specific market area works.

The Location: Hexagon is a global company with locations around the world. This position is based onsite in Calgary, AB.ย 

Responsibilities

As an Agriculture Engineering Intern, you will:

  • Collect, process, and analyze real-world GNSS/INS data from agricultural operating environments, including field testing with tractors, utility vehicles (UTVs), and other equipment.
  • Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated verification and validation tools and scripts using Python.
  • Assist in investigating and resolving customer issues escalated by the Applications Engineering team.
  • Analyze software defects and feature enhancement requests, and contribute to the development of solutions in Python and/or C++.
  • Deploy, monitor, and maintain automated test suites within a continuous integration environment (Jenkins).
  • Support the refinement and traceability of functional and performance requirements to ensure comprehensive validation coverage.
  • Create and maintain detailed test documentation, including test plans, specifications, execution results, and requirements compliance records.
  • Troubleshoot test failures, perform root cause analysis, and support corrective action implementation.
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain technical documentation for existing and emerging tools, systems, and infrastructure.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on engineering processes, test methodologies, and product quality.
  • Support the enhancement and maintenance of Test Infrastructure including Test tractor and Farm installations.
Qualifications

Must-Have:ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย 

  • Registered in the Engineering Internship/Co-op program and have completed at least your 2nd or 3rd year of studies by the start of your work termย 
  • Enrolled in Computer Science,ย Geomatics,ย Computer Software Engineeringย orย any field related to software developmentย at a recognized post secondary institution
  • Available for a minimum 12 month work term, 37.5 hours a weekย 
  • Strong academic credentials
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and writtenย

  • Familiarity with Software Development Lifecycle Tools; such as GIT, JIRA, Jenkins & Test Case Management Tools
  • Experience and knowledge of GPS/GNSS/INS technology, products and systems
