Description:
Candidates must have a strong content and pedagogical knowledge and will be responsible for teaching 5 sections of science including environmental science, physics, earth science, and/or chemistry, ranging from college-preparatory to AP. Experience in professional learning teams, differentiation, common assessments and remediation is desired.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • BS in related field; MS degree in science field preferred
  • Valid Illinois Professional Educators Licensure with endorsement in the sciences
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills
  • Openness to collaboration and instructional coaching
  • Ability to plan and present lessons in alignment with CCHS curriculum documents/scope and sequence
  • Collaborate with PLTs for course alignment
  • Ability to pass criminal background check including fingerprinting
  • Commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Teaching experience in physics, environmental science, earth science, and/or chemistry at the secondary level
  • Maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Maintain the rules of classroom behavior and procedures, and maintain order in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Establish clear objectives for all learning activities and communicate these objectives to students.
  • Demonstrate strong content knowledge in secondary math education and instructional strategies
  • Plan and present lessons in alignment with CCHS curriculum documents/scope and sequence
  • Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
  • Work cooperatively with other school personnel in the identification, education, and remediation of individual students.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records.
  • Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees.
  • Demonstrate employee responsibilities in completing duties accurately and promptly.
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the building administrator.
