Job description

Department: Dean, Natural Sciences &Math Salary: Commensurate with Experience/Education

Description

Supports individuals and groups within the University of Houstonin all phases of the funding process in an effort to fund projectsin Research Science and Education. Collaborates with other researchentities and private businesses outside of the University System tocoordinate, develop, fund, and implement research projects.

Career Ladder Levels: Research Liaison 3 // Research Liaison 2 //Research Liaison 1

  1. Identifies and maintains research alliances with potentialcollaborative partners to formulate and implement specific researchprojects.
  2. Coordinates and assists with writing funding proposals andcoordinates related activities with the appropriate universityadministrative department.
  3. Identifies technologies with high potential forcommercialization and develop strategies to transfer technologiesinto the industrial sector.
  4. Serves on special projects at the discretion of thedirector.
  5. Acts a liaison between the office of research and the facultyand funding agencies.
  6. Coordinates visits of local, state, national, and internationalvisitors; coordinates meetings/special events for externalconstituents.
  7. Serves as a program and administrative manager for the fundingprocess functions; assists in grants and contracting process.
  8. Assists in developing and organizing research clusters andfacilitates multiple Principle Investigator proposaldevelopment.
  9. Develops marketing plans for specific technologies, includingnewsletters, website, and press releases and announcements.
  10. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Experience will be considered in lieu of education.

MQ: Requires singular knowledge of a specialized advancedprofessional discipline or the highest level of general businessknowledge, normally acquired through attainment of a Master'sDegree or equivalent formal training in a recognized field ofspecialization that is directly related to the type of work beingperformed. Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directlyjob-related experience.
