Job Summary This position is responsible for providing project management and functional expertise as part of the Project Management Office and Business Excellence (PMOBE) subfunction within Clinical Safety and Pharmacovigilance (CSPV). PMOBE is the strategic planning and implementation group within CSPV. The Director, PMOBE leads CSPV portfolio management, overseeing the end-to-end delivery of complex, global, cross-functional programs aligned to unit and enterprise priorities. This role partners closely with senior leaders and executives to shape strategic priorities, inform decision-making, and ensure alignment across the organization. It provides strategic leadership by driving large-scale change initiatives, embedding scalable processes, and enhancing organizational and team performance. The position is accountable for delivering measurable outcomes and value realization across the portfolio, while proactively identifying and mitigating risks to ensure sustainable solutions and outcomes. As a member of the CSPV function, this role drives business excellence by identifying optimization opportunities that enhance efficiency, quality, and scalability across the organization. It provides leadership in designing and evolving operating models, governance frameworks, and performance management practices, using industry best practices to inform decisions. Through strategic influence with other subfunctions in CSPV, the position strengthens operational oversight, standardizes processes, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring sustainable impact and alignment with enterprise objectives Responsibilities Project & Portfolio Management: Supports CSPV portfolio and leads complex program management, overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of global, cross-functional initiatives within CSPV Delivers programs aligned to strategic priorities, ensuring performance against scope, timelines, budget, and quality standards Partners with senior leaders to define critical success factors, establish governance, and provide transparent reporting on portfolio health, risks, and resource utilization Drives disciplined execution through effective communication strategies, decision tracking, and accountability frameworks Champions adoption of project management best practices and continuous improvement to strengthen CSPV operational excellence Business Excellence: Leads the development and implementation of operational excellence strategies in partnership with CSPV Leadership, aligning initiatives to business priorities and long-term goals Drives process optimization by guiding process mapping, design, and redesign efforts, ensuring scalable, efficient, and compliant operating models Establishes and oversees operational frameworks, governance, and performance metrics across CSPV, enabling data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement Leads and clearly articulates impact assessments of project outcomes—translating implications into actionable insights—while partnering with SMEs and leadership to shape implementation strategies and accelerate adoption. Qualifications Education Qualifications Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree preferred (i.e MS, MBA, PhD) in a scientific discipline with additional relevant experience preferred. Experience Qualifications 8 or more years of professional experience in pharmaceutical industry (Minimum 2 years in patient safety & pharmacovigilance required) Proven expertise in project management and/or business strategy required Experience leading cross-functional teams to drive operational efficiency and implement best practices preferred Proven track record of implementing strategic initiatives that resulted in measurable business outcomes. preferred Strong analytical and problem-solving skills applied to optimize business processes and achieve strategic objectives preferred Licenses Qualifications Certified Project Management Professional (PMP)-PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification and/or training in project managment Travel Requirements Ability to travel up to 20% of the time both domestic and international.
