Job description

With offices nationwide and abroad, NV5 helps clients plan, design, build, test, certify, and operate projects that improve the communities where we live and work.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Engineer to support our growing CEI department. The ideal candidate will be a licensed Professional Engineer with a minimum of eight (8) years of experience managing construction projects in Florida, with experience working for and with the Florida Department of Transportation. The candidate will manage our team of field inspectors and project administration staff on highway and bridge construction projects. Responsibilities will consist of monitoring project construction progress while managing multiple CEI projects and marketing upcoming CEI pursuits. The individual should be able to take ownership of CEI projects from start to finish.


Main Responsibilities (but not limited to) the following:
  • Management and administration of heavy civil, highway, and structures projects; leading teams of project staff to directly coordinate NV5 project inspection needs in fulfillment of contract scope
  • Approve pay estimates, final estimates, change orders/supplemental agreements, and claims
  • Perform plan reviews
  • Create and maintain healthy client relationships
  • Provide technical oversight to Field Inspection Staff and facilitate a thorough understanding of construction engineering techniques and FDOT standards
  • Provide strong leadership to the inspection staff by answering technical questions in an effective and efficient manner
  • Manage schedule and financial progress of projects

Education, experience, licensure, and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a similar accredited engineering degree
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Florida
  • Problem Resolution Skills/Ability and confidence to recommend field changes to drawings/specifications
  • Excellent Communication Skills, both Verbal and Written
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and build teams
  • FDOT Advanced MOT Certification
  • CTQP Quality Control Manager and CTQP Final Estimates II
  • Must pass mandatory DMV check
