Role Overview

The Medical Science Liaison / Senior Medical Science Liaison functions as a highly trained, field-based, scientific expert who engages external stakeholders (HCPs, researchers, professional organization leadership, patient advocacy groups, and Payors and managed care organizations, and formulary decision makers) in the assigned Therapeutic Areas (Tas) across the aligned geography. MSLs / Senior MSLs are responsible for developing and enhancing partnerships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) by engaging in scientific exchange and other scientific information in a fair and balanced manner and provide scientific support for Medexusโ€™ pipeline. These interactions will be conducted in a compliant manner, and in accordance with all local, state, and national regulations and guidelines. Through scientific exchange, the MSL / Senior MSL will collect key insights along with insights on key competitive markets, to share cross-functionally within various Medexus sub-functions. The MSL / Senior MSL will also serve as a scientific partner and subject matter expert to internal colleagues and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Function as the primary subject matter expert in the field for Medexus Medical Affairs.
  • Identify, establish, and develop ongoing, peer-to-peer relationships with key opinion leaders (global, national, and regional) and HCPs with recognized academic and regional medical centers to build advocacy and engage in scientific exchange.
  • Develop and execute territory plans in alignment with Medical Affairs strategies.
  • In accordance with company policies, act as the primary point of contact and facilitator for all aspects of investigator-initiated trials (IITs), from submission, review, approve, through study activation/completion.
  • Provide insight/feedback on emerging scientific data that enhance value and appropriate use of Medexus products as part of complaint collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Provide appropriate clinical and scientific information to healthcare providers in response to unsolicited requests (as appropriate) in a fair and balanced manner.
  • Participate and contribute to medical education material development and internal training initiatives.
  • Support medical education programs, including speaker programs, scientific symposia, and community meetings for relevant health care professionals.
  • Contribute/lead to monthly/quarterly medical meetings including journal clubs, team meetings, and quarterly business reviews.
  • Support planning, organization, and lead execution of regional Advisory boards; Contribute and provide support for National Advisory Boards.
  • Maintain and demonstrate thorough and up to date knowledge of disease state, study methodology, clinical information, and product data.
  • Accurate and timely completion of documentation of field activities, expense reporting, administrative reports.
  • Contribute scientific and medical support for the Market Access team, commercial partners in alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Support and mentor new team members through onboarding and training activities.
  • Demonstrate full knowledge of an ability to execute approved medical platforms, strategies, and MSL initiatives.
  • Attend and participate in key professional society meetings to represent Medexus and further develop the relationship with the organization.
  • Represent Medexus at national, international, and regional medical/scientific conferences.
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Experience
  • Advanced medical/scientific degree (MD, PharmD, PhD, NP, PA) required.
  • 2+ years of MSL experience required for the MSL level.
  • 5+ years of MSL experience required for the Senior MSL level.
  • Experience in Hematology/Oncology required. Bone Marrow Transplant experience, preferred.
  • Strong knowledge and/or experience of pharmaceuticals and/or life sciences.
  • Current working knowledge of FDA, OIG, ICH, GCP, PhRMA Code, HIPPA, and other compliance regulations and guidelines relevant to industry interactions with healthcare professionals.
  • Proven ability to work independently, as well as cross-functionally with numerous stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills, strong personal integrity, teamwork abilities, and a customer focus are necessary
  • Experience level will determine leveling within the role.
Additional Information
  • Location within assigned territory. Travel approximately 80%, including some weekends.
  • Territory: Minnesota, Iowa, Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota
  • MSL base salary range: $170K - $210K
  • Senior MSL base salary range: $200K - $240K
