The Health Science Lab Assistant provides support to instructors, staff, and students in health science laboratories. This role involves preparing lab materials, maintaining equipment, ensuring a clean and safe environment, and assisting with demonstrations or activities as needed. The Assistant ensures the lab is functional, organized, and ready for instructional use.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
โ€ข Maintain lab space, lab storage rooms, and lab equipment.
โ€ข Preparation of lab equipment and supplies (assembly/disassembly and delivery of equipment) as determined by semester course schedule provided by Professional Faculty.
โ€ข Assist in preparation (assembly/disassembly) of simulation scenarios as requested by reporting staff, faculty, or administration.
โ€ข Maintain linen needs for health labs including collection of linen bags, distribution of linens and document linen tracking.
โ€ข Administrative support tasks such as photocopying, tracking of needed supplies and other-directed tasks.
โ€ข Prepare laboratory materials, supplies, and equipment for health science courses.
โ€ข Clean and sterilize lab equipment and surfaces following proper safety and sanitation procedures.
โ€ข Assist in inventory, tracking, and restocking lab supplies and equipment.
โ€ข Dispose of medical supplies or waste according to safety protocols.
โ€ข Maintain accurate records of lab usage, equipment check-outs, and safety compliance.
โ€ข Monitor equipment for damage or malfunctions and report issues to reporting staff, faculty, or administration.
โ€ข Support faculty during lab sessions guiding them in equipment usage and referring questions to reporting staff, faculty, or administration.
โ€ข Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and institutional policies and procedures.
โ€ข Ability to assist with equipment maintenance and lab set up in all areas of the campus.
โ€ข Regular attendance on campus is required for this position.
โ€ข Utilize technology, including AI-enabled tools and software where appropriate, to support the effective performance of assigned duties, enhance productivity, improve communication and information management, support decision-making, and other responsibilities, while ensuring compliance with confidentiality requirements, institutional policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
โ€ข Other duties as assigned.
Hours/Schedule: This is a part time position with a various schedule based on semester course offerings for up to 20 hours per week. May have need for occasional evening or weekend hours.
Physical Demands:
โ€ข Frequent standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 lbs., and safe handling of medical supplies.
โ€ข Ability to lift, carry, and transfer skills lab equipment, media, computers and materials as needed.

โ€ข Effective communication and interpersonal skills - both verbal and written.
