ERM is seeking a Consulting Associate, Strategic Communications in Boston, Massachusetts or Rochester, New York to support client projects and provide communications-related administrative support to our Strategic Communications and Stakeholder Engagement team. This role plays an important part in helping clients effectively communicate with stakeholders, manage public engagement activities, track community feedback, and support project delivery through high-quality communications, research, analysis, and coordination.

As a Consulting Associate, you will support strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, and public outreach initiatives across a variety of projects. You will help facilitate meaningful interactions between clients and their stakeholders while contributing to research, communications development, event coordination, and community engagement activities that support successful project outcomes.

What Your Impact Is:

  • Conduct traditional and social media monitoring using web-based and licensed monitoring tools to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks, and provide analysis that supports client objectives.

  • Research, identify, and maintain stakeholder information, including elected officials and staff, agencies, environmental organizations, community groups, and business organizations.

  • Maintain stakeholder and public comment tracking databases and prepare reports and summaries.

  • Support the development of communications materials, including fact sheets, newsletters, meeting summaries, reports, and project updates.

  • Coordinate public meeting and event logistics, including venue arrangements, catering, presentation materials, handouts, and attendee support.

  • Participate in community outreach events and stakeholder engagement activities, including one-on-one interactions with stakeholders and members of the public.

  • Manage project communication channels, including voicemail systems and email response coordination.

  • Provide administrative support including task tracking, mail merges, proofreading, online research, meeting coordination, file maintenance, report preparation, travel planning, conference call support, and vendor coordination.

  • Comply with project-specific health and safety requirements.

  • Support additional ERM service areas and projects as needed.

What You'll Bring:

Required

  • BS/BA in Communications, Public Affairs, Journalism, English, Political Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • 0 years of relevant professional experience; internships and related experience may be considered.

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced consulting environment.

  • Adaptable, proactive, and collaborative approach to work.

  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment with occasional travel (approximately 2-4 weeks annually).

  • Experience using social media platforms.

  • This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

Preferred

  • 1-2 years of public relations, public affairs, communications, stakeholder engagement, or related experience.

  • Spanish language fluency.

  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, or similar design tools.

  • Experience supporting public outreach, community engagement, or event coordination initiatives.

  • Local candidates are preferred.

For the Consulting Associate, Strategic Communications position, the anticipated annual base pay is $62,700-$78,200 (USD). Actual pay will depend on factors such as education, experience, skills, location, performance, and business needs. In some cases, pay may fall outside this range. This role may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/flex force employees are not bonus eligible).
