Geosyntec, a fast-paced and deadline-driven environmental professional services firm, has an exciting opportunity for limited-term Accounting Intern in our Boca Raton, FL office with preparing and posting journal entries and sales tax reconciliations. This is an immediately available position working up to 40 hours per week for one year. In this position you will work under the direction of the Manager of Tax.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Submit various journal entries prepared by others for approval through the ERP;
  • Prepare journal entries for select accounts and submitting them for approval through the ERP;
  • Complete monthly sales tax reconciliations;
  • Pulling high-volume monthly accounts payable invoices (100+ per month) to determine appropriate sales and use tax treatment;
  • Assist with sales and use tax audits from start to resolution, including data collection, analysis, and auditor support;
  • Assist with preparation and filing of sales and use tax returns, ensuring timely and accurate compliance with state and local requirements;
  • Assist with the business license processes; and
  • Perform other clerical functions, as required.

Education and Licensure
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program focused on Accounting, Finance or Business going into their third year of studies. (required)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy. (required)
  • Ability to remain motivated even when performing repetitive tasks. (required)
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills. (required)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on skills leveraging Excel for complex task, including creating and manipulating pivot tables and VLOOKUP. (required)
