The Video Meteorologist is responsible for the creation of weather video content to support the objective of increasing video inventory and engagement on Pelmorex's The Weather Network's platforms.ย  Using the Baron Lynx graphics system, the Video Meteorologist will produce custom videos telling the weather story in a dynamic way, engaging the audience on all media platforms. This person will work closely with the Video and Editorial Team, Meteorology Assignment Editor, and use audience analytics to deliver the most relevant and engaging weather content. During times of active weather, this role will be responsible for being live or live streaming to all our platforms keeping our audience informed and passing along vital information. When there is active weather you will be livestreaming to all our platforms and telling the current weather story.

Please note we are only considering candidates who are eligible to work in Canada and are currently located in the Greater Toronto Area.
WHAT IS THE DAY TO DAY LOOK LIKE
  • Produce weather video content tailored to specific audience interest

  • Use meteorological knowledge to analyze weather models and trends to help identify and set the daily direction of key weather storiesย 

  • Work with the editorial team to prioritize weather video content based on audience and analytics

  • Provide written information as required to support weather stories/video

  • Present weather information for all platforms in a manner that is clear, engaging, and meaningful to users

  • Collaborate with the meteorology team to ensure weather video content needs are met 24/7

  • Train other users of the Baron Lynx software to ensure maximum productivity of content creationย 

  • Cover breaking weather events

  • Livestreaming on all platforms during active weather events/Storm Centre

  • Actively engage in all social media platforms consistently helping to grow reach

  • Prolonged hours during active weather may be requiredย 

  • May be required to work on special projects including feature production and promotional content

  • Required to work in the Oakville office for each scheduled shift
