Job description

Lake Forest School District 115 is seeking a Communications and Community Engagement Intern for the 2026-2027 school year.
Description: Join the Lake Forest School District's Communications team as an intern for the Fall 2026 semester! This is a fantastic chance to gain real-world experience planning meaningful events, connecting with community leaders, and helping celebrate important milestones.

You'll work closely with our Communications Team and Superintendent's Office, creating digital portfolio projects and supporting in-person events. We'll guide and support you as you build skills in event planning, content creation, and community outreachall while making a positive impact in the community.


What You'll Do:

  • Lead planning and logistics for community engagement events
     
  • Write press releases, journalistic stories, invitations, and social media posts
     
  • Build and maintain relationships with local partners, vendors, parent organizations, school administrators, and civic leaders.
     
  • Take pictures and create content for use on social media, website, etc. 
     
  • Provide general administrative and event support
     

Who You Are: 

  • An undergraduate student studying Political Science, Communications, Digital Media, Journalism, Event Management, or a related field
     
  • Organized, communicative, and eager to learn
     
  • Comfortable working with a team and independently
     
  • Excited to engage with community leaders and school officials

You'll Be A Great Fit If You Have:

  • Familiarity with Google Workspace and basic office tech 
     
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite
     
  • Comfort designing in Canva

  • Reliable transportation

Salary and Benefits: 

  • $20.00/Hour
  • 12 hours per week (to meet Lake Forest College internship credit requirements)
  • This internship is primarily in person, with some remote flexibility. Occasional evening or weekend availability may be required for district events.

    • Monday and Wednesday in-office availability is preferred but not required.
