The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning across the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets. JOID provides a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues.

SPAs NATO Allied Command Transformation Group within JOID provides capability development, portfolio management, program management, quality management, cost estimation analysis, standardization, reporting, software solutions and information management, and capability management support. We also provide an improved capability requirements capture process, including the generation, documentation and tracing of user requirements, with appropriate technical scrutiny, over the entire lifecycle of the requirements from capability definition through capability realization and capability usage. 

We have an immediate need for a Communications Specialist to provide onsite support out of Norfolk, VA.

Responsibilities

The NATO SACT Demonstration Team is a strategic initiative designed to showcase the transformative power of SACT's cutting edge technologies and innovative solutions to a wide range of audiences, including NATO leadership, Nations, International Staff, Military and Civil Institutions, and external stakeholders. The Demo Team will employ a variety of formats to communicate SACT's work, including live demonstrations, simulations, interactive workshops, and digital platforms. The Communications Specialist will lead and conduct live product demos (software, hardware, interactive workshops, concepts, simulations and virtual reality experiences), webinars, and Online Courses for NATO HQs and entities, Nations, target audiences, and internal teams, showcasing the technical features and value of ACT's solutions. Serve as the general subject matter expert (SME) on the technical aspects of the Command's products, providing in-depth insights during engagements, product evaluations, and pre-implementation activities. Work closely with product development, SMEs, and R&D teams to stay updated on new features, product improvements, and technical advancements to integrate into demos. Address technical inquiries, troubleshoot issues, and offer solutions in real-time during demos and evaluations. Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to the success of demonstration activities. Gather feedback from audiences and relay insights to the product management team to inform future product development and enhancement. Ensure a high level of recipient satisfaction throughout the demo and evaluation process, driving engagement and building trust with technical stakeholders. Monitor the success of campaigns and engagements, track recipient satisfaction, and provide regular reports to leadership on the effectiveness of the demo team, including key findings, insights, and recommendations for improvement.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Engineering, IT, Marketing, or a related field.

  • 3+ years of experience in a technical role, such as engineering, IT, or scientific research.

  • 3+ years of experience in a customer-facing position, preferably in a technical account or solutions engineering role.

  • 2+ years of experience in crafting and executing technical, results-driven communications and campaigns.

  • 2+ years of working with cross-functional teams, including subject matter experts, graphic designers, videographers, and PR professionals.

  • Proficiency with explaining complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Experience with managing and fostering relationships across all levels.

  • Active National and/or NATO Secret (or above) security clearance.
  • Able to work fully onsite based on client needs. 

Desirable: 

  • Experience with international organizations or multinational teams and working in a military or defense environment.

  • Experience with AI, virtual, and augmented reality technologies.

  • Experience with data analysis and reporting.

  • Knowledge of NATO structures and procedures.

  • Fluency in multiple languages (e.g., French).

Pay Range InformationAt SPA, we strive to deliver a robust total compensation package that will attract and retain top talent. Elements of the compensation package include competitive base pay and variable compensation opportunities. SPA provides eligible employees with an opportunity to enroll in a variety of benefit programs, generally including health insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and a number of programs that provide for both paid and unpaid time away from work. The specific programs and options available to any given employee may vary depending on eligibility factors such as geographic location, date of hire, etc. Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salaries are commensurate with experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
