Your role in the mission:

The Communications Specialist will work closely with the companyโ€™s Marketing & Communications leader to build and protect the Type One Energy brand, craft engaging stories to support strategic priorities and communicate both internally and externally to advance the companyโ€™s mission.

Familiarity with fusion technologies and the fusion industry is desirable. The ability to understand and communicate effectively on complex scientific and engineering topics is essential. Strong writing skills and demonstrated success in content development are required.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative and adaptable individual who combines creative thinking with analytical skills to support compelling content creation and ensure consistent communication that aligns with our brand strategy. A strong understanding of public relations, corporate communication, employee communication, and digital communication along with a keen interest in science, technology, and clean energy, are essential for success in this role.

  • Writing and Content Development โ€“ Write press releases/newsletters/blog posts/social media content and reports as needed, develop compelling presentations and speeches for internal clients, support external communications activities across departments and teams. Develop engaging content for newsletters, web and other digital media.
  • Intranet Site Management โ€“ Support effective employee communications by updating and maintaining the employee intranet site and other employee communication channels. Support and mentor other teams and departments as they manage their own departmental sites on the intranet. Knowledge of SharePoint is preferred.
  • Multimedia Content Creation โ€“ Develop engaging presentations, infographics and videos using digital photography and video equipment. Coordinate with external designers and vendors to manage multimedia projects.
  • Employee Communications & Recognition Committee โ€“ Lead employee communication committee and provide quarterly reports on team activities. Manage employee communication and recognition projects as needed.
  • HR Communication Support โ€“ Provide communications counsel and support to HR team on strategic communication projects including annual enrollment, onboarding, stock options and safety.

What youโ€™ll need:

  • At least 3-5+ years of proven experience in communication, public relations, or journalism with a focus on technical and/or scientific communication. Experience in employee communication a plus;
  • A bachelorโ€™s degree in marketing, business, communications, journalism or a related field;
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills;
  • Ability to find the story;
  • Strong content creation skills across communication channels;
  • Interpersonal skills and reporting/interviewing skills to gather information from different sources;
  • Ability to understand and communicate on scientific and technical topics; must be able to synthesize information and develop thoughtful and insightful content on scientific topics; and
  • Experience with SharePoint intranet sites and other content management systems.
