Marketing and Communications Intern Job Description
BHDP’s marketing department is essential in driving business development, enhancing brand awareness, and supporting our diverse markets: Workplace, Higher Education, Industrial, Discovery amp; Science, Healthcare, Government, Retail, and Community. We are looking for a dynamic Marketing and Communications Intern to join our team and contribute to our impactful marketing initiatives.
As a Marketing and Communications Intern, you will work collaboratively with the marketing team, as well as our architectural, interior design, and experiential graphic design teams, on internal and external marketing projects. Your responsibilities will include assisting with the coordination, preparation, and assembly of proposals, client presentations, and interviews. Additionally, you will create engaging visual and written content for BHDP collateral, social media, the website, newsletters, email campaigns, and more.
The successful Marketing and Communications Intern should:
  • Have a passion for design, with the utmost attention to detail.
  • Enjoy writing and editing short-form copy while maintaining BHDP’s tone and voice.
  • Possess strong thinking/problem-solving skills, which can be applied to business processes with a "can-do" attitude.
  • Be a nimble multi-tasker.
  • Have strong communication skills.
  • Be creative, bold, curious, collaborative, results-driven, and strive to deliver excellence.
  • Be a junior or senior majoring in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, or similar.
  • Have previous internship experience.
Marketing and Communications projects you will work on:
  • Copywriting and copyediting for web content, project stories, blogs, and social media.
  • Proposal creation and formatting.
  • SharePoint intranet site updates.
  • Creating social media graphics.
  • Crafting award submissions.
  • Assisting with email campaigns.
  • Formatting presentations.
  • Assisting with the production of our podcast, Trends + Tensions.
  • Creating marketing analytics/reports.
Experience that would be helpful to have:
  • Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Premiere Pro)
  • Social media platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook)
  • Canva
  • SharePoint or similar intranet platform
  • Drupal, WordPress, or similar content management system (CMS)
  • Mailchimp or similar email campaign software
  • HubSpot or similar marketing automation software
  • Be available at least 32 hours per week, Monday–Thursday, in BHDP’s Cincinnati office.
  • Be pursuing an undergraduate degree.
  • Provide a portfolio link and/or writing samples with the application.
