Job description

Intern Actuarial - HHSIBN
We're determined to make a difference and are proud to be an insurance company that goes well beyond coverages and policies. Working here means having every opportunity to achieve your goals - and to help others accomplish theirs, too. Join our team as we help shape the future.
The Hartford Insurance Group, Inc. offers one of the most premier actuarial summer internship programs in the nation, designed to prepare you for a challenging and rewarding actuarial career. During this competitive 11-week summer program, you and your fellow interns will become part of a highly respected actuarial community at a leading Fortune 500 company, undertaking challenging and exciting assignments while sharpening your technical, communication and leadership skills.
Interns work throughout all actuarial departments including both Property and Casualty businesses and Employee Benefits. Challenging performance objectives ensure that the work you do will be valuable to both you and The Hartford. Interns are exposed to a variety of actuarial functions including: personal and commercial insurance pricing, corporate reserving, data science, enterprise risk management, employee benefits, and more. Our calendar of events is structured with fantastic training in R coding, insurance terminology and technologies used by the actuarial department. All interns are able to make active contributions towards supporting our culture. The program also includes a number of unforgettable team building and social events that let you meet and interact with all members of our large actuarial community.
The Actuarial Internship Program begins in late May 2027. This is a full-time, in-person position based exclusively at our home office in Hartford, CT. All interns are required to be physically present in Hartford for the duration of the program. To support this, we provide funding toward travel and housing.
Qualifications:
Must be well-rounded, driven candidates who possess excellent analytical, leadership and communication skills. To be considered for this program, candidates should be pursuing a bachelors or masters degree in actuarial science, math, economics, finance, and/or other science related fields. Candidates are required to have passed at least one actuarial exam.
"The Hartford's Actuarial Internship Program has given me the best insight into what working as an actuary involves. Working on challenging projects with full-time actuaries conveys the sense that you have an important role within your department already. However, this is only the beginning of what you can experience at The Hartford. From celebrating a co-workers birthday over lunch to going out with the Actuarial Students after work, the full-time employees do a great job of acquainting the interns with the type of social environment they can expect to work in. The Actuarial Intern Program offers a complete understanding of what working for The Hartford has to offer." - Former Actuarial Intern
