Job description

About RWM
Ritholtz Wealth Management is an RIA headquartered in New York City, with clients and employees nationwide. We've built something genuinely different in the wealth management space, a firm that combines institutional-grade investment management with an authentic media presence, a thriving community, and a culture people actually want to be part of.
Our tax practice is fully integrated into our wealth management offering, meaning our tax planners work hand-in-hand with advisors to deliver cohesive, proactive financial strategies, not just annual returns. As our client base continues to grow, we're adding an experienced Tax Planner to the team.
About the Tax Practice
Our in-house tax team works directly with RWM's wealth management clients, sitting at the intersection of tax planning, financial planning, and investment strategy. This isn't a traditional accounting firm environment, our tax planners are active collaborators with advisors, helping clients navigate complex tax situations as part of a broader financial picture. The practice handles 700+ individual tax filings annually, along with ongoing tax projections, Roth conversion analysis, charitable strategies, income planning, and more. You'll have real impact on real client outcomes, and room to grow alongside a practice that's still scaling.
What You'll Do
  • Build and review comprehensive client tax plans and multi-year projections
  • Prepare and review individual income tax returns as part of the annual filing cycle
  • Partner with wealth advisors to develop and implement tax-efficient strategies aligned with clients' financial goals
  • Identify planning opportunities: Roth conversions, tax-loss harvesting, charitable strategies, estimated tax planning, and more
  • Communicate tax concepts clearly to clients and advisors, translating complexity into actionable guidance
  • Ensure billing accuracy and maintain clean client records
  • Contribute to the continued build-out and improvement of the tax practice

What We're Looking For
  • 3-5 years of experience in public accounting, tax filing, tax planning, or financial planning
  • Strong individual income tax knowledge; experience with high-net-worth clients a plus
  • CPA or EA required (or actively in progress); Or a CFP with a desire to provide proactive tax planning & preparation.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple client engagements simultaneously
  • A clear, confident communicator, both written and verbal
  • Comfortable collaborating across distributed teams and roles
  • Excited to work in a fast-moving, growth-oriented environment
  • Compensation: $95,000 - $125,000 base (commensurate with experience) + Comprehensive Benefits. The salary offered will be determined by, but not limited to, experience, education, skill, location, and credentials.

Bonus Skills
  • CCH Axcess or other professional tax software
  • Schwab, Fidelity, or equivalent custodian platform
  • Orion or other portfolio management platform
  • Salesforce or equivalent CRM

Perks & Benefits
  • Hybrid work environment (regular in-person collaboration in the Philadelphia area)
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • 401(k) with match
  • Generous PTO + paid parental leave
  • Discretionary quarterly profit pool distribution (after one year)
  • Community volunteering support
  • A culture that genuinely embraces diversity and inclusion

Applicants must be local to the Philadelphia area (Ambler, PA) or planning to relocate prior to start.
Veterans and military spouses are encouraged to apply.
We participate in E-Verify. We will provide the U.S. Social Security Administration (SSA) and, if necessary, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) with information from each new employer's Form I-9 to confirm work authorization.
