They work closely with administrators and local law enforcement to prevent and address potential threats, such as unauthorized visitors or disruptive behavior. Their presence helps create a safe and conducive learning environment for everyone on campus.

What does a school security officer do?

School security jobs include work as a security officer, school security coordinator, manager, and director of school security. In some settings, such as public universities, security may be provided by a local police station. As a security director, your duties are to develop and implement safety protocols for a school district in coordination with the local school board and other stakeholders. Officers’ responsibilities are to patrol the school grounds, monitor students, traffic, and visitors to the grounds, and guard the school against threats. Most security guard positions are unarmed.

Familiarity with security surveillance systems, communication devices, and incident reporting software is typically required.
