Job description

Description

Summary: Extended Day is the after-school program for Greenhill students in pre-K through 8th grade. Our philosophy is that children need time to make choices and play with friends and adults at the end of their academic day.

The program is divided into different age groups, with low teacher/student ratios to promote interaction between teacher and child. Activities are designed for the students, who understand that they will be making choices between teacher-planned activities or playing with friends.

This part-time assistant teacher position involves working with a whole team of teachers in the after-school program from 1:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • project preparation
  • playground supervision
  • study hall
  • overall safety of children
  • interaction with children and their families
  • cleaning supplies and room(s) at the end of the day
  • assist lead teachers with other duties, as needed

Requirements

  • Prior experience working with a group of children in a school/camp setting
  • Degree or working toward a degree in early childhood; preferred but not necessary
  • Must be creative and caring, and someone who brings energy to the classroom
