The instructional salary scale and paraprofessional scale match that of the Monroe County School District. IN ADDITION, all full-time Sigsbee staff members will receive a $1000/month Living Allowance in the 2026-2027 school year.
Sigsbee Charter School, located in Key West Florida, is looking for the best candidate to fill the Middle School English Language Arts position and become a part of our amazing team!
One of these educator certification options is required to teach this course in field:
  • English (Grades 6-12) OR
  • Middle Grades English (Grades 5-9)

How to become FL certified in English (grades 6-12):
  1. Out-of-State Certification: If you hold an unexpired, out-of-state, professional educator certificate in this subject area, please apply for Florida reciprocity.
  2. English Major: Commonly accepted bachelor's (or higher degree) majors for a Florida temporary educator certificate include: English, Literature (English), Creative Writing, Language Arts.
  3. Other Majors: For other degree majors, passing the FTCE Subject Area Exam in English 6 12 is required. Visit the testing website http://www.fl.nesinc.com/tests.asp for further details. The English 6 12 subject area exam is divided into two sections: a multiple-choice section and a written performance section. You can split the sections into two appointments of one section each or take both sections in one appointment. Locate a test center. Study materials are available for purchase through The Learning Liaisons and 240 Tutoring. Free sample questions are available here. If at first you don't succeed, you may retest every 30 days.
