Job Summary Job Summary The Middle School Humanities Teacher & Advisor teaches Reading, Writing, & Social Studies to students in grades 5-8 through an integrated, inquiry-based approach that fosters curiosity, critical thinking, communication, & civic engagement.

In addition to classroom teaching, the successful candidate serves as an advisor, partnering closely with students & families to support each child's academic, social-emotional, & personal growth. Essential Responsibilities - Teach engaging Reading, Writing, & Social Studies courses for students in grades 5-8 using inquiry-based, student-centered instructional practices. - Design meaningful learning experiences that integrate critical thinking, discussion, research, project-based learning, & authentic assessment.

- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs, interests, & strengths of students. - Create a classroom culture that is inclusive, respectful, intellectually engaging, & developmentally responsive. - Foster students' literacy, communication, collaboration, & problem-solving skills.

- Serve as a middle school advisor, supporting a small group of students in their academic progress, executive functioning, goal setting, & social-emotional development. - Communicate proactively & effectively with students, families, & colleagues, building strong partnerships that support student success. - Collaborate with faculty to develop interdisciplinary learning experiences & contribute to the life of the school.

- Maintain timely & accurate student records, assessments, & progress reports. - Participate fully in faculty meetings, professional development, school events, field experiences, & other community responsibilities. - Supervise students during recess, lunch, arrival, dismissal, & other assigned duties.

Requirements / Qualifications Qualifications - Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred. - California teaching credential or equivalent teaching experience preferred. - Experience teaching middle school Humanities (Reading, Writing, Social Studies, Public Speaking).

- Strong understanding of adolescent development and best practices in middle school education. - Experience with project-based, experiential, inquiry-based, or interdisciplinary learning. - Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction and support diverse learners.

- Commitment to creating an inclusive classroom where all students feel known, valued, and challenged. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Collaborative, flexible, and reflective educator with a growth mindset.

- Strong organizational skills and effective classroom management. - Comfort integrating educational technology to enhance teaching and learning. - Experience serving as an advisor or mentor to middle school students is preferred.
