Summary:  This position is responsible for all facets of general maintenance.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Observes all Safety policies and procedures as outlined within Newell Brands' Safety Excellence and Leadership (SEAL) program.
  • Drive success through the Company's Planning, Engagement, Awareness and Knowledge (PEAK) continuous improvement program.
  • Personally responsible for upholding the Newell Brands Values and the Code of Conduct.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly workstation for compliance with Newell Brands' Housekeeping standards.
  • Responsible for submitting labor hours within the Micromain system.
  • Must be able to effectively troubleshoot and make necessary repairs on plant equipment.
  • Performs diagnostic troubleshooting on electrical, HVAC, chillers, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC's mechanical equipment and perform repairs as necessary.
  • Follow equipment's prints, sketches and schematics when performing routine maintenance.
  • Tear down and overhaul equipment components such as, but not limited to pumps, valves, regulators, and motors.
  • Completes required reports and other documentation on assigned work and/or inspections.
  • Supports Wichita site's overall objectives.
  • Must be familiar with mechanical components and how they work in conjunction with electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Must be flexible in working different shifts and be able to work a weekend schedule upon request.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed.
  • Welding performance preferred, but not required.
  • Other duties as assigned by Shift Coordinators and the Leadership Team.

Education and or Experience:  Trade school maintenance program or 2-year Associates degree. Two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Basic computer skills preferred.  Ability to program and troubleshoot PLC's preferred. Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions presented in English.

 

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to communicate with co-workers and management.

 

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
