School maintenance workers are responsible for ensuring that school buildings and grounds are safe, clean, and in good working condition. Their duties include performing routine repairs, maintaining heating and cooling systems, fixing plumbing and electrical issues, and handling general cleaning tasks. They play a key role in creating a healthy and safe environment for students, teachers, and staff. Maintenance workers may also help set up for special events or emergencies and collaborate with other school staff to address facility needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a school maintenance worker?

To thrive as a School Maintenance Worker, you need general maintenance skills, basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems, and often a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with tools such as power drills, saws, and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is commonly required.
