Position: Food Service Assistant              Location: District Wide


Employment Type: Full-Time                Work Schedule: 10-Month Position

FLSA:  Exempt                                        Reports to: Building Principal/Head Chef

Job Summary

The Food Service Assistant supports the preparation and service of meals to students and staff while maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary food service environment. The position follows district, state, and federal food service requirements and supports the daily operations of the food service program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare food for the following day's breakfast and lunch.
  • Assist with food preparation and meal distribution.
  • Serve students the correct portions in accordance with the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and other applicable requirements.
  • Assist with maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen, serving, and dining areas.
  • Follow all district, food service, health, and safety policies and procedures.
  • Assist with proper storage and handling of food and supplies.
  • Maintain a professional and positive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee. 

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Professional and dependable work habits.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality. 

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent walking and standing.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a food service environment for extended periods. 

Salary and Benefits

Starting Salary: $18.50 per hour

The District offers medical, dental, and vision insurance in accordance with applicable District policies and collective bargaining agreements.
