Job description

Savannah R3 School District is currently seeking a reliable, responsible district maintenance position to help maintain and care for our facilities. We take great pride in the external and internal appearance of our facilities and see them as a reflection of our district. The ideal candidate would be highly motivated, careful, and thorough in his/her work, have an eye for detail, and demonstrate the ability to be a team player with current staff to ensure the upkeep, and safety of the facilities. We are looking for a maintenance person who is reliable, focused, and committed to building upkeep.
This is a 12 month position working a 6am-2pm shift. It will be required to periodically be on call for events such as snow removal.
Maintenance Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs a wide variety of general and semi-skilled maintenance activities (e.g. carpentry, painting, electrical, etc.)
  • Inspect and troubleshoot various equipment and systems.
  • Complete regular PM maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain assigned vehicles, tools, and equipment to ensure the availability and safe operating conditions.
  • Be able to operate the equipment required to complete daily tasks. (Skid loader, Tractors, Lifts, etc.)
  • Maintain athletic grounds. (painting, and field maintenance)
  • Snow/Ice removal on parking lots district-wide.
  • Transports a variety of tools, equipment, and supplies to ensure the availability of materials required throughout the district.
  • Arrange furniture and equipment to provide adequate preparations for special events.
  • Responds to emergencies during and after hours to resolve immediate safety concerns.
  • Coordinates with skilled tradesmen and/or assigned supervisor(s) to complete projects and work orders efficiently.
  • Report to facilities staff or maintenance director regarding issues resolved, those needing attention, and those currently in progress.
  • Participates in meetings, and trainings, to convey and/or gather information required by the district.

Maintenance Worker Requirements and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven experience as a maintenance worker or other similar position. โ€ข Basic working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical systems.
  • Experience working with tools, including hand and electrical tools. โ€ข Ability to read and utilize technical manuals and drawings.
  • Be able to operate a computer-based work order system.
  • Be able to lift 75 or more pounds.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • General passion for creative problem-solving
