  • $1,500 on your first regular paycheck and $2,000 after 6 months

SUD Counselor Position Highlights:

SUD Counselor Responsibilities:

  • Manages client flow in Florence office with little direct supervision.
  • Managing all aspects of a case from date of entry to date of discharge.
  • Evaluating patients' physical and mental behaviors.
  • Developing appropriate treatment and recovery plans.
  • Facilitating individual and group therapy sessions.
  • Monitoring patients over time to access treatment progress.
  • Collaborating with psychiatrists, doctors, nurses, social workers, and departments of correction as appropriate.
  • Identifying behaviors that interfere with treatment and recovery.
  • Assisting primary caregivers to manage addiction-related behavior.
Requirements:

SUD Counselor Requirements:

  • Must be a motivated self-starter capable of working alone with little direct supervision
  • Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor I or II (CADC-I or CADC-II)
  • Previous experience with the treatment of substance use disorders
  • Application of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services' (SAMHSA) best practice indicators
  • In-depth knowledge of drug and alcohol testing to monitor treatment plans and medical instructions
  • Self-starter, capable carrying out multiple tasks in a timely manner
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and a compassionate nature

SUD Counselor Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in chemical dependency counseling, or a bachelor's degree with coursework in chemical dependency
  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems like Carelogic would be advantageous
  • Experience with co-occurring health and mental health problems
