Qualifications:
  • Must be willing and able to submit to criminal background check
Job Responsibilities:
  • While riding in a school bus, monitor and assist students with special needs until released to a teacher, designated school employee, parent/guardian or responsible adult.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Pay Schedule - Current pay for sub and regular bus aides is as follows:
  • Bus aide, hourly rate (step 1-10) $16.48 - $19.11/ hr
Pay Benefits:
  • All regular bus aides at WO receive five (5) days of pay during Spring Break (as paid time off) plus two (2) additional days during Winter Holiday Break (for those with 6 or more years of experience).
  • All regular bus aides at WO receive three (3) personal paid days (as paid time off) during the school year
  • Regular bus aides at WO receive two (5) paid snow days when used (as paid time off) and can receive pay on additional snow days from available accrued personal or sick time up to the maximum number of days allowed by law (with no impact on the attendance incentives described above).
  • Regular bus aides at WO accrue sick leave each month to help provide income when sick and unable to work and earn retirement through the Michigan Public School Employees' Retirement System (MPSERS).
  • Regular bus aides at WO are eligible for vision & dental insurance and certain health insurance benefits, or, can opt out for a lucrative 'cash in lieu' (for those who work 30 or more assigned hours per week).
  • Regular bus aides at WO can increase their work hours to 30 or more hours per week by working in West Ottawa's Food Service department (between the morning and afternoon bus runs).
