What is a school based RBT?

School-based Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) are trained professionals who work within educational settings to provide behavior therapy and support to students, particularly those with autism or other developmental disorders. They implement behavior intervention plans designed by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) to help students develop social, academic, and life skills. RBTs work closely with teachers, school staff, and families to ensure consistent and effective interventions, fostering a positive learning environment for students.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a school based Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)?

To thrive as a School-Based RBT, you need a solid understanding of applied behavior analysis (ABA), behavior intervention strategies, and must hold an RBT certification. Familiarity with data collection systems, behavior tracking software, and progress reporting tools is essential. Strong communication, patience, and collaboration skills are vital for working effectively with students, teachers, and support staff. These competencies ensure effective implementation of behavioral interventions and promote positive educational outcomes for students with behavioral challenges.

How does a school based RBT typically collaborate with teachers and other educational staff?

A School Based Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) works closely with teachers, special education staff, and school psychologists to support students with behavioral or developmental needs. Collaboration often involves regular communication, participating in team meetings, and sharing observations to help develop and implement individualized behavior intervention plans. RBTs may also provide in-class support, assist in data collection, and offer strategies to teachers for managing challenging behaviors, ensuring a cohesive approach to student success.

Who We Are
At Gold Vine ABA, we believe in being the place “Where Every Family’s Journey Takes Root.” We are a family-owned, BCBA-led organization providing high-quality, compassionate care to children ages 2–14. In an industry currently facing widespread corporate shakeups and private-equity instability, our clinician-led structure provides a rock-solid foundation of stability for our staff and our families. We measure success by clinical quality, RBT career longevity, and true student milestones—not faceless corporate numbers.
Why Gold Vine is Different

Working as a school-based RBT can often feel isolating. We completely redefine that experience:
  • Year-Round Income Stability: The biggest fear of school positions is the unpaid breaks. We have summer options ready (if desired) to keep your hours consistent.
  • One Location, No Mid-Day Driving: Spend your entire day at a single school site. There is zero mid-day driving or unpaid travel between clients, saving your gas, vehicle mileage, and sanity.
  • 90 Introduction: You receive enhanced oversight, hands-on administrative backing, and specialized classroom-setting support during your first 90 days to ensure you feel confident and stable.
  • Real BCBA Partnership: You are never left on an island. Our BCBAs are on site and maintain highly accessible communication, prioritize mentorship, and act as a partner.
  • A Firm Culture of Well-Being: We don't view RBTs as simple line staff; you are the vital foundation of our clinical mission. We invest heavily in your professional development, clinical safety, and day-to-day fulfillment.
What You’ll Do
As a School-Based RBT, you will be the absolute anchor for your student, guiding them toward independence within their natural educational environment.
  • Provide dedicated 1:1 behavior intervention and ABA therapy within elementary school classrooms.
  • Support crucial classroom routines, academic transitions, structured group assignments, and positive peer social interactions.
  • Safely and consistently implement individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) under active BCBA oversight.
  • Accurately track daily behavioral data and maintain clear, objective clinical documentation.
  • Collaborate proactively with classroom teachers, school support staff, and your Gold Vine clinical supervisor to ensure a unified approach.
What We’re Looking For
Required:

  • Active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification in good standing with the BACB.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (College coursework in psychology, education, or ABA is a plus).
  • Absolute reliability and rock-solid punctuality—the student's school day relies heavily on your consistent morning arrival.
  • Ability to successfully complete standard Florida Level 2 background screenings and school district clearance steps as needed.
  • A genuine passion for advocating for neurodiverse children within public or private school structures.
Preferred:

  • Prior experience managing behavioral challenges within a school, daycare, or group pediatric setting.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
???? Student Analysts & Future BCBAs Welcome!
If you are currently pursuing your coursework or degree in Behavior Analysis, Gold Vine ABA is your perfect clinical home. We actively support your professional runway by providing high-quality, free supervision hours toward your BACB certification requirements, along with direct career mentoring from our experienced ownership team.
