Pay Rate: $19-22/hr DOE

Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and dedicated School Aide to support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a school-based setting. The ideal candidate will be fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) and passionate about helping students develop academic, social, communication, and life skills in an inclusive learning environment.

This role involves providing one-on-one and small-group support, assisting with classroom activities, implementing behavior support strategies, and facilitating communication through ASL to help students thrive both academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct support to students with autism in classroom and school settings.
  • Utilize fluent ASL to facilitate communication and support student engagement.
  • Assist teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavioral intervention plans.
  • Support students with academic tasks, social interactions, and daily classroom routines.
  • Encourage positive behavior and reinforce appropriate social and communication skills.
  • Monitor student progress and document observations as required.
  • Assist with transitions between classrooms, activities, and other school environments.
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, therapists, and families to support student success.
  • Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
Qualifications
  • Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) required.
  • Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Child Development, or related field preferred.
  • Understanding of behavior management and de-escalation techniques is a plus.
  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
Preferred Experience
  • Previous experience as a Paraprofessional, School Aide, Behavioral Therapist, Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), Instructional Aide, or Special Education Assistant.
  • Experience supporting students with communication challenges and sensory needs.
  • Knowledge of special education best practices and classroom support strategies.
