Position:       Anticipated Opening School Nurse 

Location:       John F. Kennedy Elementary School 

Application Deadline:     Until filled

The Berlin Township School District, located in Camden County, New Jersey, is seeking qualified candidates for a full time School Nurse. Preferred candidates should possess New Jersey certification for School Nurse, but RNs are eligible. The district is committed to excellence in education through a strong belief that each and every student can learn at high levels through a well-rounded, whole child approach to education. The ideal candidate should possess the following:

  • Licensed as a New Jersey Registered Nurse (minimum requirement) and New Jersey School Nurse certification (or documented eligible for the same, preferred)
  • Experience working with a variety of students/pediatric patients with a broad spectrum of developmental, physical and social-emotional needs; experience with elementary school level students, preferred
  • Experience with 3 & 4 yr. olds to support the pre k program, preferred
  • Knowledge of current and effective health practices for children and adults
  • Knowledge of development and implementation of mandated health practices for schools including health screenings, immunizations, and individualized health plans.
  • Must be current in certifications for AED, CPR and First Aid
  • Willingness to work closely and effectively with members of the Child Study Team, School Counselor and Health and Physical Education teacher to assist with the wellness and education of students with their health
  • Capacity for leadership in ensuring a healthy school environment while working collaboratively with school personnel, family, community and health providers
  • Willingness to teach health lessons including developmentally sensitive topics in a collaborative setting to students 
  • Ability to proactively and positively encourage healthy mental and physical development within the school
  • Practical skills and applications in technology
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with distinct characterization of confidentiality
  • Must be highly organized and have attention to detail
